          ── LOST! OH, HOW VERY LOST she’s become. the snow - kissed trees replicate each other in a way that rivals even the emerald forest, much to weiss’s chagrin. the falling snow doesn’t help the situation at all, and weiss is beginning to curse herself for thinking that coming out here was EVER a good idea. surely, one of her bunkmates could have provided firewood! uneasiness sets in as she begins to worry what will happen if she doesn’t find something soon. a landmark, another person, anything...

...that is, until she spots a bright cape greatly contrasting the pale snow as she turns ‘round a corner into a new clearing. 

❝ ruby? ❞ a soft gasp escaped parted lips as her vision becomes clearer and she’s soon confident that she’s not mistaken ; ruby rose stands mere paces away. relief and comfort are the emotions she feels immediately ─ she’s not stranded on her own. and with ruby here, surely things can only go up.

❝ ruby! ❞ once weiss has reigned herself back into reality, she dashes forward until she nearly clashes into the red - clad girl. her features highlight with a bright, genuine smile as weiss takes one of ruby’s hands in her own, ❝ oh, thank the gods you’re here. i was so worried! ❞ worried i’d be alone again ─. the looming thread of being stranded has been forgotten in favor of the elation she feels. but with it, comes more confusion. 

❝ what are you doing out here? and how long have you been here? are the others..? ❞ she stops herself, realizing how she must appear, spewing so many questions. but she simply, can’t quite help herself! ❝ and aren’t you cold ? i know you fared well on the way to argus, but this climate is much harsher! ❞

“ ruby! “ her voice carries across the patch of tundra both of these girls find themselves in, it’s tone that of excitement and warmth - this is her leader after all, the girl who risked it all time and time again .. just for a brighter tomorrow.

    “ i can’t say i’m surprised to see you here - how’re you holding up? “ 

because i’m absolutely freezing.

“ it’s ... really good to see you. “ this would be a hugging moment but, the faunus isn’t exactly the type to initiate them, so instead Ruby can get a soft stare and a look of genuine relief. “ is uh ... anyone else here? “

                    Or should he say five out of nine? 

          “ Miss Rose. “ He’ll shock her out of her stupor, if only to dispel any further silence ( it’s more awkward than speaking, he doesn’t want her to stare forever ), musing over what to do next. A greeting? Or the more glaringly obvious question here? “ ... No, Oscar is not with me. Our bodies are separate. “ Yikes! The blatancy almost makes him want to cover his face and scowl. The only indication of it is the smallest narrowing of his own eyes, before he grips the package in his hands more firmly. “ I suppose that the laws of this world dictate some measure of fairness. “  Breath rising in the cold, he looks to one side, before glancing back to the girl. She still looks some measure of shocked, but, by some miracle, he hasn’t been tackled over yet. ( the boy deserves those hugs much more than he does, that’s something that anyone would know. ) 

          “ But, discarding my present situation. “ Oz states with a certain level of firmness, eyes closing in a sigh and an ever so slightly furrowed brow. He holds out the package wrapped delicately in twine and satchel. Admittedly, the immortal had almost forgotten that he was apparently designated as one of the village children, and, with that title, he had been given a special task. “ The traditions of this place are surprisingly intimate. I hope that you enjoy the meal. “ Would it be appropriate to smile? ... No, not to her. ‘ No more lies. No more half truths. ‘ 

                    ( well, perhaps he isn’t following that as faithfully as he should be. )

          “ Are you well? “ Anyone that ends up here isn’t. “ This place is much colder than northern Anima. I hope you are taking whatever measure you can to keep warm. “

       the sparkles in the stranger’s eyes catches xion off guard, bright blue irises turning from glimmering silver to the giant key in her hands. she hadn’t been expecting such wide interest in it. after all, after waking up in eidolon, xion’s keyblade really did just look like a random prop she was carrying around. there was no magic, no summoning... for now, she just had to lug it with her on her short expeditions outside the village.

    ❝ um... it is a weapon, but... ❞ peach lips purse, raising the blade to support the head with her left hand. “i can’t do anything with it anymore, other than swing it around...” a pause. “ah, i mean, that’s how i used it, but there were other stuff too... it’s a little complicated, i guess.”

     A2 hoped for a day in which she would grow used to the idea of living among humans. humans... she had dreamed-- wished with every ounce of her being that one day the war would be over, and earth safe enough for their creators to return, and then, finally live among the ones she had fought for. wishful thinking at its best, for that dream would never come true regardless of the sacrifices she made along the years. that, until this place happened.

     for her surprise, as the days went by, the android discovered little things here and there, and quickly realized how silly humans can be. they should be perfect, untouchable, a role model if anything. but here A2 is, watching as a human ate snow right off of the floor.

          ‘ . . .what the hell are you doing ? ’

                  So doughty and conscientious, the juvenescent lionheart is certainly not unlike her intrepid sibling. Both are corporeal reminders of less arduous times - times best left forgotten. Alas, what SHOULD BE is seldom WHAT IS. Despite creditable efforts, she cannot efface indelible memories of a lamented ROSE and a gregarious huntsman from her convoluted mind. Now more than ever before, she sees both valiant altruists in this petite huntress she once spurned. She's unnerved, disgruntled, and irrefutably contrite all at once as she warily regards the gallant adolescent.

               Although an ethereal frown is affixed to the elder female's capricious lips rather than a truculent scowl, the expression upon her alabaster visage is ultimately an indecipherable one meant to veil incongruous sentiments. ❝ As IMPERFECT as it was, I always believed it held light in it for SOME. Though, I suppose you showed up here because you were just following your lights. I take it you found them? ❞

       it’s not like nora had any qualms about gathering firewood on her own. teams had to do independent things! ... uh, does that count when she’s away from her team? ... well, whatever! details, details! even if she did feel alone, other villagers seemed to be taking part in the task as well, so it’s not as though the area was completely empty anyway!

    and speaking of not empty, the otherwise quiet freezing air seemed to be full of rather high-pitched grunts. and the sound of a scythe cutting into something. very fishy, very recognizable! 

    with all the grace of an ursa, nora dashes towards the noises ( which is quite a feat, considering the snow ), skidding to a stop upon finding a certain red-clad girl. other people might’ve found the method a tad excessive, but nora? nah. you keep doing you, little ruby! ... doesn’t stop the elder from giggling at the sight though.

    ❝ aw, i knew i recognized that slicing and those cute grunts! need a hand there, ruby? ❞

From ashes, something new will rise. It seemed to be something humans here lived by -- but 9S couldn’t be so sure, even gathering ashes from the fire himself. He felt under-equipped, under-protected -- and there was little chance he had to remedy that other than with weaponry and training as he was now. He hardly had much faith in the concept of glass weapons, but...

He was curious. What else?

He pauses in the midst of his collecting, hearing a pained whine from his left. Gaze flickering to the side, the young girl appeared to be getting burned in her attempts to recover ashes from the fire. You don’t have to get so close. Sighing slightly, he puts his own ashes in her hands. “Here.” If only humanity could be more cautious -- they would never have existed in the first place.
