scythewielding.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā you know iām holding you to that,Ā ā she mumbles, her head nuzzling against the elderās shoulder, arms adjusting to grasp tighter onto noraās form as if she may evaporate from her embrace. she feels the sting of tears reach her eyes & a lump begin to form in her throat just as nora hauls her smaller frame from the snow & swings herĀ āround clockwise. the action easily manages to pull a stream of giddy giggles from her chest, a sound which rings out & echoes through the otherwise still forest around them, & lasts a few seconds after rubyās been released, mildly unsteady on her feet.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā woah ā head rush.Ā ā she continues to chuckle as both hands gently press against each side of her face to quell the dizziness she feels. her head shakes side to side gently before her mind returns to reality & catches onto noraās idle musings. rubyās exhaled breath produces small plumes of white smoke as she listens & contemplates.Ā ā huh.Ā ā
Ā Ā Ā one hand falls to her side, idly swinging as momentum leaves it while her other hand moves to cup her chin thoughtfully. her eyes narrow & soon fall to the ground, taking in the site of undisturbed snow nearby as if a single snowflake within the massive expanse of white could hold the answer to all their questions.Ā ā i donāt know,Ā ā she admits after a lengthy silence, silver eyes flickering back up to noraās gaze, slight worryĀ hidden in the depths.Ā ā thereās something more to this than just waking up in a different place. i ā- i think i had some kind of dream. it was cold & i swear there was some kind of voice ⦠guiding me.Ā ā her hands subconsciously conjoin in front of her to mimic the shape of an invisible sphere, remaining there for a short moment before they collapse on each other as if the object had simplyĀ shattered beneath her fingers.
Ā Ā Ā she sighs heavily & watches the large white plume escape from her mouth, her brows heavily furrowed with concern. the answers they seek surely didnāt lie in the empty expanse of snow & forest they found themselves wading through at the moment, & they certainly wouldnāt be found if they continued to stand out in the frozen tundra ill-prepared. ruby shivers, then hugs her own form, palms rubbing against biceps.Ā ā i was, yeah. with that giant fire theyāve got going back in the village i figured itād be nice to help out & bring in some more wood. iāve only gotten branches from the trees so far. everything on the groundās too wet.Ā ā
Ā Ā Ā ruby turns from the redheadās gaze & wanders a short distance to the pile sheās been steadily adding to for the past hour or so out in the forest, gathers it up in her arms as best she can before turning back.Ā ā i donāt think iāll stay warm enough out here for much longer. you okay with heading back right now ? ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā a dream, ruby says. a dream. nora says nothing in response, gaze falling to her own hands in idle thought. her dream too, was cold, yet still warm. it was painful, heart wrenching, and she wonders if rubyās was the same. and somewhere, in the corners of noraās mind, she wants to wrap ruby in another embrace. wasnāt it painful to think of? to think of one of the youngest in their group to be inflicted with pain upon pain with little solace? was that what that dream was for? to provide comfort and hope in the most difficult of hardships? but what hopes did ruby desire? nora knew of her own, no matter how much peace she tried to convince herself she was in.
Ā Ā expression soft, nora follows in rubyās footsteps, taking half of the firewood from her arms with little word nor offer. she isnāt entirely sure what burdens the silver-eyed teen carries, but the elder did wish to help as best as she could. be it literally carrying weights for her or figuratively, nora would... except, she isnāt entirely sure how to even begin the topic for the latter, so she figures this is the least she can do now.Ā
Ā Ā ā sounds good, ā she agrees, head nodding.Ā āand then we can catch up and figure out what the heck elseĀ is going on here.ā then she hums in that nora way of hers, attempting to brighten the oddly dim atmosphere.Ā āthe snowās fun and all, but maybe not when weāre freezing...ā then she pauses, eyes narrowing into the distance, lips pursing.Ā
Ā Ā ā... hey, youād think we usually wouldnāt freeze, right?Ā like... our auras were kinda a thing... do you think...ā she wants to offer up the idea of the possibility of magicĀ being involved, but instead nora shakes her head.Ā ānevermind, we can talk about it when we get back.ā
Ā Ā the snow crunches beneath her feet as she begins trudging through, mind wandering. vaguely, she has to wonder if the magic ozpin knew of could even do anything like this... like... taking a part of their souls away. stripping away what protected them, what gave them confidence to keep fighting. sure, nora was confident regardless, but she felt... weaker. lostĀ somehow. if magic could steal away parts of their souls, their semblances and auras, whisk them away from home and render their weapons useless...Ā
Ā Ā inhaling and allowing a deep sigh to make itself known in the cold of the air, nora looks up to the sky.Ā
Ā Ā āyeesh, youād think weād get a breakĀ for even a second after all the stuff that happened.ā
