THE BOY ARRIVED! I got Crowley yesterday and he’s just... amazing. He likes to slither UP (semi arboreal) and he seems to be curious about his new surroundings. Currently hes got a bunch of perches he’s putting to use in his quarantine tub. Crowley is a super dwarf reticulated python from Reach out Reptiles (run by Garrett Hartle) and if anyone out there has been considering a SD retic but doesn’t know where to start-- THIS IS THE PLACE. Garrett is amazing and the snakes he breeds are stunning! amazing! animals!

I love him!! About how large do SD normally get to? I haven’t been able to find very much info on them anywhere.
Thank you! <3 Well.....It all depends on their linage! And sometimes the % of SD blood in them doesn’t determine their size. I learned a lot from the breeder I got Crowley from (his name is Garrett Hartle and he runs Reach Out Reptiles & you can see his video on SD sizing and lineage here) and he runs a great youtube and instagram where he talks about his snakes all that pertains to keeping and breeding them. I love that he makes videos on really some really great enclosures for some of his babies.
These are the other videos hes made that I really like (they’re all good but these are the most helpful I think when you start thinking about getting one as a pet)
How Much DOES a Super Dwarf Retic Cost? Super Dwarf Morphs Don't Exist! The Truth about Superdwarf Retics [what do you REALLY know?] How do locality percentages work? [Reticulated Pythons] How big DOES a Super Dwarf Retic get? [What you need to know] NEW Super Dwarf Enclosure! [Snake Cage Setup] Naturalistic Style NEXT GEN Super Dwarf Enclosure? I’m still new to keeping an SD Retic (and new to retics in general I’ve just been a fan from them from afar for years and years) so I def don’t have many answers but I know they’re really interesting pets and so far I’ve really loved having Crowley around. He’s shed for me once already and has (greedily) eaten once as well. Watching his behavior in his tank is fascinating. He loooooves to perch and I got some natural wood bird perches for him that he slithers through and hangs on as well as basks and naps in. So far he hasn’t used either of the terrestrial hides I’ve provided and only uses the arboreal ones! I’m currently working on a design for a big bioactive tank for him (its gonna be 4x3x2) with arcadia deep heat bulbs and uvb basking. I wanna try using excavator clay for the first time as well for a beach feature (like you can see Garrett and Tom talk about in this video at abt 10 min in)
Sorry, I got a little long winded talking about super dwarf stuff! Anyway, Crowley will get to approximately 9-10′ because of his parents and lineage and hes 50% Kalatoa!
Some tongue shots of Grimm on this rainy day.
