| Chapter Seventeen: "For Better or Worse" | Episode IV: Six Waves of Gunmen || One of the hardest encounters--especially on Crushing mode--involves fighting your way, as Elena slowly ascends in a crude elevator; on lesser-difficulties, this encounter isn't nearly as hard as you can simply use the elevator for cover up until the last wave of two--one wielding an RPG. In every mode excluding "Crushing", this RPG carrying enemy won't show up at all if you've died a certain amount of times during this encounter. However, he will always show up in "Crushing Mode", and can easily be a quick end after a long fight. If you're low on ammo--which is almost guaranteed, as there's few places to attain ammo, and is often risky--but necessary. In other words: do your best to make every shot count. Also, try conserving as much hand-gun ammo--whichever one you may have. Since there aren't any reliable places to cover (at least for most of the fight), you'll be hanging off of ledges for most of the fight. Make sure to be in a spot where dropping down is feasible, as these guys tend to throw them quit often and, if you want to avoid either death or serious injury from an explosion, any time a grenade lands near you, drop down a ledge (or, if you're in a bind and don't have a ledge to drop to, jump along the ledge quickly away from the grenade; you'll most likely be injured, but--depending on the situation--the impact won't inflict nearly as much damage...or possible death). Watch the guide to see where the scarce locations of guns and ammo are, and study the basic strategy I used to finally finish off the last wave. Once you've cleared the area, make your way up the center "pillar" finally reaching the next checkpoint. After a sigh of relief, bullets and grenades signal the next encounter...|
