December 28th 2020 - Remembering Feka Parchibell, a symbol of community leadership. In 2018 after the Mission Driven Alumni Outreach (MDAO) Program, led by members of the alumni network of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, in Yaounde, Parchibell was one of our local coordinators in the South West Region (Cameroon) of a U.S. Embassy Yaounde funded micro-project titled, #EducationFirst. She braved the odds to campaign, in the community and on TV/Radio, for an enabling climate for the young to be able to have access to education. She also led initiatives to organize classes in the communities to keep children learning. At Open Dreams, she was a role model on women empowerment (Generation Equality). She had a mastery of breaking barriers and getting to the table the female voice on issues which matter to everyone. Open Dreams honored the invitation of LadyBird High School Yaounde, on December 08th 2021, as the institution and a host of others joined the world to commemorate the end of "16 Days of activism against gender based violence" under the theme: ORANGE the world: End Violence on women now. “The activism program is termed Orange the world because we are all looking up to a world that is as bright as the orange colour, succulent, juicy and sweet like an orange where everyone has equal opportunities.” Said the lead organiser of the event, Mbimeyuy Yvonne, who is a member of the Open Dreams Community of Scholars. During the event, Open Dream representative, Bill Agha, presented on the topic, "Youth Leadership", encouraging and demonstrating to the youths, key successful leadership qualities through stories and practical examples. The event brought together leaders of several civil society organisations, including Silver Lining Africa - Sila, Gender Empowerment and Development-GeED.
