Hello sunshines !! We just wanted to let you know about an update to our rules.

Firstly, our activity limit has changed from seven days to ten days. All other activity rules such as the multiple muns and reply length rules and remained the same. 

Secondly, we now require you to fill out and send in via ask a hiatus application that you can find on the hiatus page. This will be posted publicly to allow us to keep track of hiatuses. You are welcome to keep the reason vague and elaborate in IMs if you need to. We will also post on the main when your hiatus has ended to remind you that you have two days to be active with everyone. We will tag one of your blogs in this post so you are notified.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to message us via the main.

New Rules

Hey everyone !! We have decided that since it is a new year, we are adding some new rules and updating some others. You will find them under the cut. Please make sure to read them carefully as we will be enforcing them starting today.

returning from hiatus - after a hiatus has ended, you have 48 hours to become active or you will be unfollowed/end up on an activity check.

continuous inactivity - if you end up on an activity check more than once in a row, you will be asked to drop at least one character.

reply lengths - to avoid threads ending too soon and to encourage more character development, all replies must now be a minimum of two sentences. a sentence has to be at least four words or more to count as one. you can, of course, have sentences that are less than that but if you do, please write more to make up for it. additionally, please apply a “yes and” or “no but” ideology to your replies (find a post about it here). we also encourage muns to write their characters’ inner dialogue to help with character development and give muns replying a better idea of how they’re feeling. this rule is to prevent threads from dying out too quickly which is something that has come up as an issue in the past. if we find that this rule is being broken on more than three occasions, we may ask you to drop one or more characters.

reserves - faceclaims and canon characters/names can be reserved usually for 24 hours but we also allow extended reserves. the latter can last for up to two weeks max and should only be used if you are on hiatus or the faceclaim/character is extremely popular.

changing fcs - this is, of course, allowed. however, if you are changing the fc of one of your characters, please inform muns who play immediate relations, such as siblings or other family, to said character about the change before you request it. out of courtesy, you may also want to give anyone with other major connections, such as relationships and friendships, to said character a heads up too but this is not a requirement.

read the rules - if you have read this post, tell the main which harry potter movie is your favourite

wanted connections - do not apply for a wanted connection or sibling to an existing character without discussing it with the mun first. when you do apply, please make a note about the connection at the end of the app (or if there is no space message the main immediately when you send the app) so we can take it off the wanted connections page and know that you have spoken to the mun.

first post - please do not post a starter or reply to any before your follow link has been posted. as stated in another rule, your 48 hours of activity does not start until the link is posted.

hey guys !! so we just thought to give you guys a little heads up about what to expect before the second half of the event which begins tomorrow at noon GMT.

our gossip witches have decided to do another body swap !! we will include a list below of all the muses and who they will be swapping with. but we wanted to let you guys know beforehand so you can plot with others and start collecting gifs/finding gif hunts. if you have any issues, see anyone missing on the list or if you have any questions in regards to this part of the event please send a message through to the main. 

we ask that if you make any open starters during this second half of the event that they be tagged with #sdhqhalloween2. also please do not start body swap threads until the post is officially up on the main. we hope you guys are excited about this and happy roleplaying !!

hey you guys !! we just thought we’d give you the heads up to keep an eye on the main as we have a really fun event planned for this halloween. along with the autumnal event, we will have our yearly costume contest. therefore we ask that you start sending in your characters’ costumes to the main as soon as you can to give extra time for voting !! please make sure to specify if the costume is a couples’ costume or not. we hope the upcoming event can lift your spirits - pun intended - and stir up some potential drama and new plots !! happy roleplaying !!

Hey everyone, the following rule about activity has been added to our page:

what counts? - conversations between characters both open and closed are the main way to be active. within the seven day time frame, you must do least two replies for at least two different muns (more is encouraged). additionally, always reply to new starters if available.

We will be starting up regular activity checks again as of this week so please make sure to follow this rule and all the others to do with activity found on the rules page.
