How hard is it to get into SDSU for film production with a 3.3 GPA?
I would say fairly hard, just because it is fairly hard to get into State in general. I am not too privy to the film production major, but I think I remember hearing it is pretty impacted/competitive. However, SDSU looks at A LOT of different criteria for their incoming freshman that span far past your GPA. It never hurts to apply! :)

Hi! I'm going to be a freshman this year and I wanted to know what was your opinion on textbooks. Is it better to rent or buy them? Should I do it through the school's bookstore? or is it better through kb books or something?
KB books is generally cheaper; however, as a freshman it might be easier/more convenient to just get it from the bookstore because you can enter in the order and then go and pick them up (especially with the chaos of moving in, it makes things nice and easy).
It is cheaper to rent, but the book isn't yours so you can't really highlight or write in them too much. I would say it is just personal preference, do what is best for you. For me, I was always the one that needed to write and highlight my books, so it was just better to buy them used. However, I was also a History major, so none of my books were SUPER expensive (unlike some of those science textbooks) and I kept all of the books pertaining to my major...
But the cheapest way to go? The Internet... Seriously, Amazon-order that stuff. I am now a graduate of State, in law school, and STILL buying my books from Amazon.

I'm a freshman in college this year and I wanted to apply to transfer for next year, but on the school's website it says that transfers have to have at least 60 credits and first year applicants are anyone who have taken no college courses. Does this mean I absolutely cannot apply as a sophomore?
I wouldn't transfer as a freshman, I have yet to hear about them ever accepting a freshman transfer... MOST colleges won't accept a freshman transfer, they either want you as a freshman or as a junior... Not actually sure WHY that is, but I think it is a generally good rule (Sophomores get the absolute LAST pick of classes, you really don't want to start at State having to grapple for classes...). If you are desperate to transfer as a freshman, then talk to the people of the transfer section of the admissions office. :)

I really want to go to SDSU & I have a good GPA & a good ACT score (not excellent, just slightly above average) but the room & board is so expensive that I don't believe I'd be able to go and I'd like to avoid getting a loan as much as possible and I don't know what to do.
Scholarships, scholarships, and more scholarships is my suggestion! :) Since you would have to pay for room and board, I am assuming you are coming from outside of the SD area....
The other alternative is to do community college near home first. However, as a warning, I heard that they have really cut down on transfer students outside of the SD area, so it might be in your best interest to still move down to SD if you want to go to State.
My best piece of advice? Talk to someone in admissions, because they are the ones who know for sure and can help to best guide you to State. :)

regarding the TFM major, they only take 1 in 3 students who apply. i know it sucks, i'll be applying as well. >____>

I'm entering SDSU as a junior pre-TFM major this fall and was wondering if you or anyone on here knows how difficult it is to get accepted past the petition? I'm slightly freaking out about getting into the school and my petitions being denied. Anything helps!
