Yes a quality headcanon! I was thinking along similar lines. Skywings and air are integrally connected. They use wind for spellpower and flight, and they have to breathe like every other elf, so they probably have excellent voice control and breathing skills. Whistling, imitation, accents, all kinds of fun stuff. 

Probably acute hearing as well, with very defined differentiation skills. They could tell you if twenty birds are singing or twenty-one. If that accent is real or fake. If someone’s disguising their voice. if someone’s breathing in the next room.

I was hc’ing in the car yesterday be why not that Nyx might speak to every new person in their own accent as a way to make them trust her, a defense mechanism, or just a Skywing way of being polite. Which brings us back around to your hc, @seabloods: birds of a feather grok together.

I’ve actually been thinking about elf royalty a lot this week, been meaning to sketch and write some things up. In short though only the ruler’s classed as a royal, and though elf royals aren’t based on families they are certainly based on blood.

Anyway! here’s Poppy as elf king
