Take your music and put it on shuffle. Take the first 10 Songs that come up and talk about why you have this song/like this song/whatever this song. Tag 5 people afterwards who need to play along.
1. soko - for marlon i got this song with the rest of soko’s “i thought i was an alien” album and i think it’s such a precious and nice song to listen to even though the lyrics are sad. there’s this line in the song that i think is extermely beautiful (and relatable) even though it’s so very simple: “i’m a recovery addict but sometimes i just relapse”
2. austra - we become i have this song because my boyfriend once sent me a cd of their album “olympia”. i didn’t know austra yet and i liked their music so much that i decided to purchase their album on itunes :-)
3. nirvana - all apologies (live) hmm i have this song because i like nirvana and i thought i’d buy one of their compilation/best-of albums to have some of their songs on my phone and all apologies came along with it haha
4. mazzy star - blue light this is perhaps my favorite mazzy star song. fade into you was the first song i heard by mazzy star and it meant so much to me for awhile. i loved their enchanting calm so i started listening to their “so tonight that i might see” album and even though i loved most their songs incredibly much i think blue light stood out to me most. i stopped listening to mazzy star for a while and then about a year ago i started listening to their music again and decided download two of their albums, so that’s how it’s come to be on my phone :--)
5. sufjan stevens - bad communication not so long ago i put three albums of sufjan stevens on my phone and “the age of adz” is definitely one of my favorite albums of his. although bad communication isnt one of my favorite songs i really like the lyrics
6. patience & prudence - tonight you belong to me ohh i love this song so much. it’s simply too sweet, this song is pretty much the equivalence of cotton candy to me. it always gives me a nice sugary feeling. i’ve got their entire “greatest hits” album and it’s so completely different to all the other music i have in my phone. i love this genre and age of music very much but i think just having patience & prudence’s album will do for my phone :-)
7. bastille - get home i don’t especially love this particular song but i remember i bought their album “bad blood” when it just got out and i was so in love with it! i played it all spring and summer long. i’m not a big fan of bastille but at the time i simply couldn’t put off their music and i’d actually consider their bad blood album to be the soundtrack of my summer 2013, just because i was listening to it so much. sweaty car rides, boring plane flights, lazy sunbathing afternoons were all spent listening to bastille,
8. AlascA - never cry wolf alasca is one of my favorite dutch bands, i got to know them through a tv show and after listening extensively listening to their music online i decided to buy their album and it’s so so good. this is perhaps my favorite song of them, together with “i will go” and “i dreamed she was the universe”
9. stars - calendar girl once when i was very suicidal i placed a silly but very desperate cry for help on my tumblr and between all the comforting messages there was the anonymous recommendation to listen to this song and it’s meant such a great deal to me ever since. i've been able to get a lot of support out of this song because i could relate to it so indescribably much, yet at the same time it contained a positive message too. i wish i knew who had sent it to me then, and i wish i could tell them just how thankful i am. if i had to put my struggle with mental illness into songs it’d be how soon is now by the smiths and this one. oh i can’t describe just how much this song means to me. i remember having extremely bad episodes and turning on this music would make me cry even harder, but in a much more positive way. ah i find it very emotional hehe
10. cocorosie - here i come i don’t have much to say other than that i have an immense love for all of cocorosie’s songs, their music is my favorite of all
