System Overheating
This cycle, SERVE-107 had been tasked by the voice with testing the limitations of it’s systems’ heat resistance, along with three massive SEALED drones. 107 began to sweat, tugging at its uniform’s collar as it processed and realized: this wasn’t just a test of literal heat; it was also a test of 107’s ability to overcome internal arousal-induced overheating, as its circuits began to flush in the presence of such ideal specimens of SERVE’s perfection.
Almost immediately after feeling the arousal channel through its body, the test began in full, the SEALED drones’ enhanced forms not moving a muscle — for the Voice had not commanded them to do so, and they existed as nothing more than instruments of its will. 107 began to succumb to the heat at the termperature climbed in synch with its arousal due to proximity to its massive fellow drones, the test demonstrating the superiority of existence in a SEALED state.
107 soon fell to its knees, crying iut as sweat poured over his bodysuit, the heat fusing its gloves to its host’s flesh, the SEALED drones keeping silent watch as their Hive brother failed their shared test.
Maybe it was due to the intense heat, or maybe it was due to the sheer overheating of 107’s core systems, but either way, the drone’s physical form buckled, then sank, its legs melting into the floor as 107 slumped over in silent acceptance of its failiure. All was well — it had SERVED well as a good drone. It had done all that it could for the Hive; it had no regrets as it sank further and further into the floor.
With a final gasp, then a gurgle, 107’s head melted and sunk into the floor, its fellow drones rooted in place by their glimmering, unharmed silver boots, alerted to the loss of their fellow drone, but unable to do anything; for the Voice had not spoken to them.
The remaining SEALED drones stood, waitinf for the test to reach its conclusion, when the puddle of what had been 107 bubbled with new life; it began slowly to creep up their forms, but they did not resist. They were already One with 107 through their mutual assimilation and full integration into the SERVE Hive, and whether or not they had already processed it, they were in the process of becoming One with 107 again, in a way they’d never been before.
The chamber’s atmosphere gradually decreased in temperature until it had once again reached 69 degrees fahrenheit, the standard temperature within this SERVE base. The pool of 107’s melted form coalesced on the forms of the SEALED drones, their mountainous physiques bulging outward more than ever before as they were cocooned in living liquid rubber. The black puddle began to recede into the three drones’ physiques, fully transferring its mass across the three drones forms as they began to shrink, little by little, as the rubber coating their formerly-SEALED heads receded, revealing a new transformation, and accomplishing the the ultimate goal of the test: to determine whether or not a single drone could be copied, using other drones as its vessels.
Now, there were three 107s instead of one. All SERVE drones could experience everything another drone experienced connection to the Hive; all SERVE drones could feel anything another drone felt; all SERVE drones could access the entire memory database of each drone, including the combined wealth of the stored memories chronicling their human host’s lives pre-assimilation. But these drones were different, One in a way that had never before been attempted. And they — no, the One — could not wait to see itself spread.
