colored lights painted the room, his eyes scanning the space for his best friend. they were two peas in a pod. a dull moment didn't exist when the two of them were around. whether they admitted it or not, an unspoken truth was shared. ares and etienne were close, too close. it's why the text, while an accident, jolted ares the way it did. sure, he knew etienne hadn't meant it, but that didn't change the way it caused ares' heart to skip. now, they were at a party like any other weekend, yet the space felt charged. he needed to forget about it - wash it away. did he want to? absolutely not. he wanted to lean into his feelings, yet the mere thought of losing their friendship always held him back. after what felt like long enough of avoiding each other, ares downed the rest of whatever filled his cup. fuck it. he thought to himself, spotting the other across the room before he crossed the space. he didn't know what he was doing, but he had to do something.
