It’s officially #SeanDay and part of the #5iveDay celebrations, and honestly? I’ve been sitting with some complicated feelings today.
Being a Five fan isn’t always easy. We’ve been through the hiatuses, the lineups, and the drama, but for me, the hardest hurdle has always been The Big Reunion. It’s been years, but I still struggle sometimes with how Sean handled those bullying accusations against J. Seeing J deny it so passionately and honestly at the time… it left a bit of a scar on the fandom. We never really got the "why" behind it, and that silence has always felt heavy.
I’ve been thinking a lot about those AirBnb sessions the boys had before the comeback announcement. I truly, deeply hope that behind closed doors—without the cameras or the manufactured reality TV drama—J finally got the answers he deserved. I hope they found peace in those quiet moments so they could step back onto that stage as a united front.
Because of that friction, Sean is actually the member I make the most effort to make peace with through my writing. In my series, The Invincible Legacy, I’ve given Sean a massive redemption arc to specifically address the "bully" narrative from the show.
It’s not about making everything perfect—it’s about me finding the version of him I can love unconditionally again.
In Book 2, You're Still an Angel In My Eyes, there is a pivotal moment where Sean finally tells J the truth behind his actions. It’s the moment he has to admit how he used J as a scapegoat for his own internal mess:
"I was angry, J! I was carrying that secret, watching her struggle, and it turned into a weird kind of hate because I couldn't tell you the truth! I projected it all onto the 'bully' narrative because it was easier than facing the reality of what I might be keeping from you!"
