Two years ago today, I sat in the back seat of a car in Kampala, Uganda, and cried on a friend's shoulder as it hit me it would be my first Christmas away from home. One year ago today, I climbed, peak after peak, and step after step as I hiked a mountain and sat in 3 countries at once. This year, I wrapped gifts to put under the Christmas tree as the snow fell outside and the smell of baking cookies filled the house. Regardless of where or how I celebrate, this time of year isn't about what I give, but what I share. Sharing a shoulder to lean on and a hand to twirl me around the living room floor during a holiday salsa dance lesson. Sharing a bus ride through the Southwest of Uganda as we explore the little corner of the world we called home. Letting the Festival of Lights be the glow of candles from the menorah as history and culture are shared across a table of good food, or the twinkling from a Christmas tree. Sharing a laugh as I sit surrounded by the people who mean the most. No matter what continent we're on. #seasonofsharing #happyholidays #christmas #hanukkah #holiday #christmaseve #menorah
