i know i'm late but it sucks that people are sending you hate over valgrace. people have always been pushing it as the "superior" non-canon ship and honestly i just don't get the point. i agree with your post on them fr

Yeah,,,,, T^T like I get having an otp and wanting them to be it and canon so badly. But if valgracers can cite Leo “naming the Argo 2 after Jason” and not after one of the most famous ships in existence,,, blaming Leo for Jason’s death as if they’re doomed yaoi,,, downplaying Leo’s feats to prop up white knight Jason as if Jason/Brick isn’t a common joke bc Jason is the damsel,,,among other things,,,, then I feel like I can use Wrath of The Triple Goddess as proof seaspark’s canon. Leo literally made Percy a whistle with their names on it and a heart that lights up in rainbows when blown,,, which is more than Leo’s ever done for Jason in realms of gayism lol

Not to say that there isn’t some basis in the Argo 2’s name. It is a funny coincidence that Jason Grace happens to be existing on a boat named after his namesake. It’s a funny coincidence because Rick purposely made Jason Grace have that name and then decided to sort of recreate the Jason and the Argonauts og mythological adventures using the seven.

But like I feel like you’re (being Leo) probably not naming your magnum opus solely after a guy you’ve only known for a few days. Especially when he’s canonically dating your best friend when you name your boat. We gotta remember that Hera/Juno was pulling strings the whole time etc etc. Leo’s first Argo 2 drafts were made longggg before he ever knew Jason.

I just wish that the crit and hate I’m getting focused more on my actual issues with the ship— that being the disposable Piper problem and the white savior narrative + making Leo only have motivation to do things because of jasonnnn— instead of a throwaway line about a headcanon I don’t like and people telling me to delete my blog because a few of my mutuals and I write smut rip

Idk. I feel like Valgrace is about as canon as all the other non canon ships. As in to say, delusion and small tidbits of text can make it seem more “canon” than not. But if that’s the case, there’s an argument for every non canon ship. Valgrace isn’t ‘more canon’ than seaspark, or pipabeth or valzhang or even jasico. It just happens to be more popular than those ships and so certain,,,fans,,, tend to get pissy when someone doesn’t agree with them based on their interpretation of the text.

Very much a ‘don’t force your fanon on me and get mad when I say it’s fanon’ kind of deal imo
