Amazing art with good intentions cleaning cigarette butts from the beach 🚬 ❌ 🏖 repost from @changingtidesfoundation After collecting cigarette butts from San Diego beaches for ages, our friend & artist @reyannemustafa has completed something truly amazing!⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ She was inspired after seeing a post from @thetrashycollection about a year ago, wanted to make a statement, and with a little help from friends, 10 months later, has put the most "beautiful and disgusting thing" we've ever seen together! (Her words!) ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ This is not the first time Rey has turned trash to treasure, her company @soul.much literally rescues food waste from restaurants and uses it to make delicious cookies and flours. We need more #SHEROES like Rey in the world!⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ Fact: Cigarettes are the most littered item. They are most abundant form of plastic waste in the world, and there are about 4.5 trillion butts polluting our global environment. What can you do if you're not an inspired artist? Quit smoking or roll your own if you are a smoker, and encourage others to do the same, as well as calling people out when you see them litter.
