i noticed today that the colors of my body

my eyes

my lips

my softness and my nipples

match the colors of my favorite flower bouquet

(maybe i am just as beautiful)

and i got these flowers for myself

and ill put myself in a vase too

dip my toes in the water, glass walls right close to me

while my soft parts and my colors spill out over the top

and ill put myself on the corner of my desk too

so that if you come over

you'll see the pretty things i wanted to display

until the flowers aren't full of soft life anymore

(have you ever thought about how beautiful dying flowers are, and then they start to stink?)

My Short Story.

So, posting this short story took a lot of overcoming my self-consciousness and doubts. I’m going to give it a shot and post a short story I wrote a while back. I actually come from a journalism and creative writing background professionally, so writing is my art.

Life has been extremely busy lately. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been so active for such an extended period of time.

First, The revised version of The Emboof Influence has been uploaded: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0052T1CMY . I didn’t make many alterations to the words, but did incorporate punctuation. It was very hard to make a decision as to which form of punctuation was proper, and which wasn’t. There are those who say poems should adhere to certain rules, and others who say there are no rules. Therefore, I just did what seemed right to me.

Second, My mother flew up from Ecuador to visit for two weeks. Right after she left, my partner visited for a week. During their visits a lot of walking and exploring was accomplished. I did not know Ballard was such a neat area, and so close.

Right now I am immersed in research, specifically general biology. I am determined to become very familiar with the subject, obtaining more than a basic understanding. Once I am comfortable with that, I’ll refocus my attention on marine biology. Afterwards, I’ll complete the final draft of Nudibranchs! and publish it, finally. Yes, it is taking much longer than expected, but the result will be worth the delay. I still plan to have it uploaded before the end of summer.

I do occasionally take a detour from research and work on the various other writing projects on my plate. Once Nudibranchs! is published it won't take nearly as long to finish the next book(s).

It's slow, but I'm still making progress on Nudibranchs! However, I am also working on Hornworm. I had been struggling with trying to figure out just how to tie all of its elements together, as I want it to be an autobiographical coming of age tale with horror elements. I want it to be so many things and contain so many true life recollections; yet, retain a narrative that remains clear and not too muddled. Bluntly, it's everything, and once I decided upon how to tie all the elements together I began pushing it ahead of other projects that have been in the works. After all, a desire to record my memories before they fade away is what inspired the project. Therefore, it makes sense to do as much work on it as I can, sooner rather than later.

Spring and summer are supposed to be nicer than usual here this year; therefore, I am determined to spend a lot of time outside writing. The final draft of Nudibranchs! may be a bit farther off than anticipated, but by the time it's published I should have already made much headway on Hornworm and the other books that have already been started, such as Attack of the Anemones, The Savage Sea Stars, The Swallowtail Terror, and Armadillo Frenzy.

It should also be noted that, lately, I've been a lot more social than usual, which is one reason why Nudibranchs! is taking so long. I don't want to be one of those socially inept writers who becomes a total recluse obsessed with his work. Writing should remain fun, not the source of self-loathing when one does not make as much progress as he or she sees fit.
