Progress. Working through the foliage in the back. I find it a difficult puzzle to figure out what to leave as simple shapes and what to articulate into leaves. I got more leafy here than I thought I would. But as for the big bush I kept hearing my husband’s response that at the block-in stage it looked like a giant watermelon. 🙄 So the peanut gallery admittedly had some influence. Big, sloppy block-in. This is the Butterfly Garden at the Seattle zoo. And now I have a lot of work to do. I just love this exhibit. It is magical! I’m returning to it Sunday as it closes up this Monday. I guess it is about time for them to lay their eggs and then they die 🥹😢 Sigh. While at the zoo I will get to see Juniper the new baby brown bear rescued from Alaska. I went for a stroll through the cutest neighborhood in @Seattle after a trip to zoo earlier in the week. It was my first time going to a zoo in about 10 years. I had mixed feelings. I decided to go and do some investigative work. I wanted to know if going to the zoo was ethical or not. I just posted a blog post about it. This is what happens when you are prepping for a presentation and start searching through photo archives. Talk about a throw back Thursday. Seriously?!? How did we forget we had a photo of a lion?? This is one of the males from the Woodland Park Zoo they thought were descendants of the Barbary Lions. Not sure if that ever panned out. We just know we happened to be wandering around the back of the lion habitat and there just happened to be this big male sunning himself right by the viewing area. Shortly after, he stood up, stretched like a house cat, and sauntered a few feet away. Must have been a better patch of sun.
