seayours: the origin story
so our name is slightly strange, if you hadn’t noticed already! which means it’s time for
✨ l o r e ✨
it all began with that message. january 28, 2021. our most iconic bot - IdleRPG, or just ‘idle’ as we call him :) so idle can do this hunger games sim thing. and we used to play it all the time. constantly. however, it more often than not ended in a circumstance in which all the players died. especially from landmines! we had a lot of fun making jokes about those landmines.
it was a totally normal round of all of our sim-selves dying. and then suddenly, summer said the words that made us who we are today.
this would have been an ordinary random comment on most days. but somehow, we kept bringing it up.
until sunny said the most important thing of all:
and it stuck.
over the next few hours, that term changed from being a role for idle’s tributes to being our name. it enveloped us, as a whole.
the first official use of the name was when the title of our server was changed, a day after the original idea. it can be seen in a welcome message written by sunny when lucy first joined the server, not long after the title change.
this was about two months into the server. idle was a pretty new bot at the time! crazy how much has happened since then :)
yes, we do understand that seayours would technically be the term for a singular landmines, and seayourses would have to be plural. but screw it who cares about grammar,
