He watches Silver's head droop lower and lower with growing incredulity, until the tips of his hair nearly dip into the tiny bat that the barista had crafted into the foam of his coffee.

It's normally here where Sebek would find himself yelling grievances about how un-guardlike this egregious display of behavior was, and giving the other boy beside him a good dressing down until those sleepy opaline eyes cracked open with faint exasperation.

But across the cozy pastry shop sit the other second year students who had rattled his fellow guard with their careless and callous remarks— an act unforgivable no matter how much Sebek scoffed that Silver should hardly pay attention to such foolish human prattle. He doesn't need to glance in their direction to feel the weight of their guilty stares, no doubt brimming with newfound curiosity after their little sparring exhibition earlier, and for some reason he can feel his features slipping into an expression more surly and ill-tempered.

Beside him, Silver exhales a sigh, and Sebek absolutely does not roll his eyes with any modicum of fondness as he redirects the older boy's head to rest on his shoulder before he can truly faceplant into his coffee, refusing to pay attention to the feeling inside of him that swells up as Silver nestles there as if to his own pillow.

Distant murmuring breaks out from across the cafe, and he swallows any remaining ire with a smug gleam of satisfaction, lifting his own cup to his lips— with this reaction, well, he supposes he can let Silver sleep a little longer.
