So if we accept that Gil-Galad is indeed the son of Orodreth, who is in turn the son of Angrod brother of Finrod than the whole Last Alliance becomes not just a last alliance but a bit of a revenge alliance as well...
Leaving aside that Elendil and his people definitely want revenge on Sauron for Numenor, the alliance becomes deeply personal to Gil-Gilad as well.
1) Sauron tortured and eventually had Finrod, his great uncle killed. (And given Finrodās temperament and personality, he probably hung out with his grand-nephew, I doubt he was an aloof uncle).
2) Iām not saying he and Celebrimbor were best friends, they definitely disagreed on stuff but they are cousins in a decimated family and presumably would have survived the fall of Nargothrond together. Guess who else Sauron tortured and killed...
3) Sauron also sued for mercy and pretended repentance at the time of the War of Wrath, Gil-Galad was the leader of the Noldor in Middle-Earth at the time. Iām guessing he has a bone to pick about the lying murdererās fake new leaf act.
And then he got killed by Sauron too, which leaves Galadriel and Elrond as the sole carriers of this legacy. Somehow Galadriel ripping Dul Gulder apart in full LĆŗthien mode becomes twice as scary and meaningful...
