Paws for Thought are travel (secondary) gallery pictures for all pets! This pack includes -

You will need to download the mod for broken pet poses by @simplyanjuta to be able to see and use each of these poses. Without it you will only be able to use a limited number from each.

Mod for Secondary Poses - Broken Pet Poses Fixed

@j-e-n-n-e-h mentioned to me earlier this week that for some reason some of the secondary poses (travelling poses) for cats and dogs don’t show up anymore. I checked my game and noticed the same issue:

There are 8 secondary poses for cats and only 4 of them show up.

There are 7 secondary poses for dogs and only 3 of them show up.

So I had a look at the game file for secondary poses and well, the pets part is a mess! As an example, this is the order in which the cat poses are referenced in the original game file and it’s even messier for dogs: 5, 4, 6, 4, 5, 6, 5, 8.

With this mod I fixed the enumeration of poses for cats and dogs in the game file for secondary poses so that all pet poses should now show up.

🔔 Don’t use the mod simultaneously with the "Mod for Distinct Male/Female Secondary Gallery Poses“ (The mods override the same data and therefore conflict. However, the fix for the broken pet poses is also included in the Mod for Distinct Male/Female Secondary Gallery Poses.)

Note for patch 1.110 from October 2024 (for the Life & Death expansion pack):

There was a change in the game file that I’m overriding with this mod that added a reference for the new trait Macabre which has its own pose now.

I’m not updating my mod for it on purpose to make sure this mod works as it used to (so Gallery poses using this mod work as they used to).

Therefore, no update but note that when using this mod the new pose from the trait Macabre will be excluded.

Mod for Distinct Male/Female Secondary Gallery Poses

Some background details:

Secondary poses (travelling poses) are poses that are used for individual portrait pictures of sims in a saved household as well as thumbnails when your sims are travelling somewhere or when you’re pointing to a lot in your world view.

The game set-up is such that there are in total 8 slots for this kind of poses (for the ages teen-adult-elder) and all poses are used for male and female sims interchangeably.

This mod makes it possible to use distinct secondary poses for male and female sims: The 8 slots are subdivided so that slots 1, 2, 3 and 4 are used for male sims and slots 5, 6, 7 and 8 are used for female sims.
