Neal didn’t know half the references Lizard made, but he understood her story well enough. It would’ve been nice to have someone like Lizard around when he was a small boy. “Yeah, I understand that. I want to thank you for doing that sort of stuff. When I was growing up… it would’ve been a pleasant surprise to have someone like you wandering the streets. My papa was the town coward and the spinner before becoming who he did so… yeah,” he trailed off. “I ended up being a thief, but only to survive. Ya know? The last things I stole…. I tried to make things right with those thefts. I tried to provide for someone even if I couldn’t be there for her.”
She rose her eyebrows, not knowing this man or who his father was… but she knew that people could change sometimes. “I did it because growing up I was alone it would have been a great thing to have someone do what I did. Plus- I had free time and I didn’t have debts like my friend to pay off. So what else could I do with them? I wouldn’t be used to having extra money… “ She ran her hand through her hair. “It was that too… I’d become a thief out of necessity and it was all I knew. The towns were neglected and they needed the coin. I knew how to take it from those who had too much- so I did. I gave it to those who really needed it.”
