Are you aware of the following gems from Bald’s Leechbook?

“Wiþ heafod ece hundes heafod gebærn to ahsan y sniþ þat heafod lege on” i.e. if you have a headache just burn a dog’s head to ashes! then put the ashes on your head

“Læcedomas wiþ þære lifre wunde þonne se swile gewyrsmed tobyrst: […] Do eac to drence nædran geworhte swa læcas cunnon” i.e. for a liver abscess, drink an adder. doctors know how to prepare a proper adder drink

I’ve heard similar advice from different sources, but it’s always nice to have more terrible medicine. 

[Topsell on adder drinks: “The water wherein an adder is preserved alive, is a remedy against the poyson of a Toade.” So, a very multipurpose medicine.]

since you’re doing rabbits next, i wanted to add some useful information about rabbit buttholes! 

Because rabbits are identified as unclean and unsuitable for consumption in the Bible, early and medieval Christians often associated them with deviant and sinful behavior. Clement of Alexandria (c. 150-215) wrote in his treatise Christ the Educator:

“As regards the hare, legend claims that it needs to void excrement only once a year, and possesses as many anuses as the years it has lived.”

I also made a printed fabric of rabbits from medieval marginalia, as seen here on my tumblr. I wanted to share it with one of the small and specific sets of people who might appreciate it. cheers!

 I don’t know what I can add to this, but I guess tune in tomorrow to find out?
