warnings: blood; leg injury
That which she saw from beyond her window wasn’t much at all. The sight of the grey skies—coated in clouds and bleeding white snow. Ever since her parents died, save for a few rare, premeditated moments…this was all that she was permitted to see of the outside world. Her twin brother lived in that world for her now. Instead of her.
Whilst she, on her broken legs…could but stare outside atop a high tower. Kept like some sort of storybook princess. Donning whatever elaborate dress her brother wanted her to wear for that day. She couldn’t have hopes of escaping on her own. Dreams like that would be crushed cruelly before her eyes so long as her brother yet drew breath. Even if she thought she was being clever by forging elaborate plans, he always somehow saw seven steps ahead of her.
But now…maybe her chance had finally come. Seymour had become fascinated by some new toy—someone else; someone far more beautiful than her. Someone who still had a mind yet unbroken. Someone who had the potential to challenge him in a creative, inventive manner that would push his mortal limits. Surely—surely, even if she managed to break away from this place…he wouldn’t come looking for her so long as he had that man.
---
Her legs were but useless weights to drag across the ground as she pulled herself towards the one window this room had. It took all of her strength to make it even the slightest bit forward. But she had to know. She had to see what lurked beyond these stone walls save the dark sky. The laced, decorated dress she wore tore against the carpet—scratching at her legs—but she couldn’t feel a thing. She only realized it later, once she thought back to look in unsettling paranoia. Harsh rug-burn had eaten through her skin and now her white dressed was riddled with red lines.
Was she being watched by those things again? Would they scurry off in all haste to fetch Seymour?
“Ah…ah..” She whined in discomfort—her stamina all but exhausted from her frail body. She was scared—concerned for what would happen if she truly was able to leave this place behind. What if…when she finally got her life back together again he appeared to bring her back home? What about that poor child with red hair? If she somehow went someplace he couldn’t find her…would Seymour just replace her with someone else? A boy just as pure and princess-like?
It was…hopeless. She couldn’t leave that boy to such a fate. Even though she herself never came to any harm, there wasn’t any kind of freedom here. She wasn’t more than just a caged bird watching the sky roll on by day after day. To subject a child so young to such a fate solely so that she might pursue her own life was selfish. But she wasn’t sure how much more of this she could take.
Yay I made another drawing! This is the same character that I drew yesterday and I think this one looks a lot more like my style. I like the way the colors add a feeling to this drawing and I'ma try to experiment some more!
