   he’s lying back in bed, book in hand ( that he was very much so not reading ). & stares over the edge of his cup as he sips his morning coffee, tongue darting out to lick his lips immediately after, a look of feigned innocence on his face. he’d kicked it behind the door for this reason exactly. but forgive him, how was he supposed to deny himself the opportunity?

     ❝ why bother? you said you could spend the day with me & if it’s because you’re cold... well lucky for you there’s this really great invention called a bed, & this one here comes complete with a blanket & a boyfriend. ❞ surely that offer is tempting enough, but just in case, ❝ come on, hyung... ❞ a whiny tone seeps into his voice, matched with what he hopes to be a cute pout of his lips. ❝ come back to bed, hm? ❞ & he taps the empty space next to him for good measure.

“ Honestly, I don’t know what to say.  This is not the first time that this has happened really... ”  There was a hint of exhaustion in his voice as he looked into the other person’s eyes.  Lancelot had always been a trouble magnet even when they were young and Arthur had always taken the role of bailing his sworn brother out every time that he finds himself in a ditch.  This wasn’t any different.  Or maybe it is?  Arthur really wasn’t the kind to jump into conclusions despite his impulsive tendencies.  But he couldn’t help but feel a tinge of anxiousness because, for the first time in a good while ,  he didn’t know if he has control over the situation.  Not when he doesn’t know a thing or two with the person seated right across him.

        “What is this information for?” Gil-Young looked down at the file in her hands, hesitaten to open it until Jangil told her the contents of it.

        “What was it that you wanted to do today?” Hae-Ju asked with an eager smile, anticipating whatever Saeron had in mind.

       “This is all I have on her right now, including the information on the witness who got murdered after telling us what she saw,” Gil-Young said, carrying in a box filled a third of the way. “Choi Yoon is supposed to be getting information on the times she worked with the Sharing Hands charity group.”           Which, he promised her wouldn’t be all that hard, might take a few days to gather all of the times since it appeared to be one of the charities she had been the most active with. And maybe even currently so as well.

        She had grown used to the angry silence from Jangil, she even moved to the couch to give him space in their room. It wasn’t wrong of him to feel whatever he was feeling, she had made a serious decision without involving him in it. Or, she tried involving him in it, but it didn’t work out well.

        She laughed at the image he painted in her mind then leaned down to press a kiss to his neck.          “Marriage? Wow, we’re really talking long term now, aren’t we?” Gil-Young said with obvious amusement, following it with another kiss there. “If you did that everyone would wonder why you  chose some reckless, out of hand detective from the violent crimes unit to be your girlfriend when there is so many out there who are less work. One who’d make better arm-candy for a handsome man like you.”          She can’t lie, Jangil is attractive.

Despite years working as a police detective, she would never be completely hardened against the atrocious acts committed by others. “A child murder. God, what the bastard did to her body....” She shook her head.
