I just wanted to clarify something that was brought to my attention.

I did not, and still do not, approve of that secrets blog or any other anonymous confession type blog that has existed or might unfortunately crop up again in the future.

When that blog was first created, the mods would talk a lot about how it was created to call attention to the people in the community that have gone undetected, unnoticed, and unpunished for abusing other players and were protected by their mantle of popularity.  They came to that again and again as their major reason why the secrets blog was important - to provide a voice for the voiceless against popular abusers.

But if you look through it now, it’s just pages upon pages worth of most unimaginably petty, juvenile, Mean-Girls-burn-book bullshit you can imagine.  People bitched about people’s RP preferences.  They bitched about how people’s character’s all look the same. They bitched how players of x-race all play certain tropes. They bitched about events they felt were stupid. The bitched about RP concepts they felt were dumb. They bitched about there being too many of certain types of events. They bitched about Garleans. They bitched about performers. They bitched about miqo’te. They bitched about Elezen. They bitched about Highlanders. 

They bitched.  

And when the mods FINALLY had evidence?  It was sloppy as fuck.

They cared more about at last nailing an abuser on their blog like they claimed they wanted to do since the start than they did making sure innocent people were safe.  Many people were dragged into this mess unwilling, because the mods didn’t stop to think for a second to make sure whether third party’s stories were being told with their consent.  They did a horrible job obscuring not just the identities of the people who gave testimonies, but the people who had their stories told without their permission.

Their sloppiness exposed everyone involved to a known abuser.  The mods were fucking sitting pretty and safe behind their secrets blog anonymity while I had friends who were scared and stressed, because Oz was raging, threatening and going off on their blog about nearly everyone involved, bringing up events that were YEARS old that no one wanted him to be reminded of so they could go on yet another rampage to hurt people AGAIN.

After Oz got doxxed (ignoring the details on whether or not they were), I was furious, because while the mods got to conveniently fuck off just as flaming shit was hitting the fan, literally EVERYTHING was worse for the victims involved. The victims involved were all totally exposed while Oz was given the perfect opportunity to present themselves as a victim under attack by secrets blog assholes and garner sympathy.  People unaware of what was happening could only see that shitheads were being mean to the person running the Positivity Blog. All the stories told were immediately called into question for their veracity because of the source - a secrets blog that was full of 90% petty bullshit - which would have made it so, much, fucking harder for people to come out against Oz in the future.  

All signs were pointing to Oz continuing to rage and attack every single person who was exposed either willingly or unwillingly, doing greater damage to innocent people, and then coming away from the experience smelling like fucking roses with the greater Balmung community - all while the secrets blog mods got to run away after creating a fucking shitshow.

Things only turned around when people decided to speak up outside of the blog itself, to share and come out with their stories.  Myself and some of my friends only found the bravery to add and share our own stories only after seeing people take things out of the secrets blog into the open, because none of us trusted a secrets blog and none of us wanted to encourage it’s use.

I don’t hold any ill will to the people who originally submitted their testimonies to it, because I can understand painfully well the hope that someone could help save you against an abuser with a memory as long and persistent as Oz’s.  But literally the only good thing that came out of that secrets blog was that it was the spark to a flame - the rest of it was garbage.
