Karkat got pooped out rage drawing against Dave and fell asleep over one of his legs... then Dave took this great opportunity to thoroughly figure-draw Karkat oh his tablet ahahha~
Here's the gift I owe!!
This is for charlottenothing, and I hope you enjoy it! I had a lot of fun making it and please forgive the lateness!! Much love and best wishes for the holiday season, ~flowerhairclips
Kanaya had spent the last twenty minutes in the bathroom. She had to look perfect, after all! Tonight was her first date with Rose, her first... real, official date, since of course the last one hadn't gone so well. Or, it had! Kisses and so forth, yeah, but on a date scale it went rather poorly. This time, Dave had promised to keep Rose away from the booze so all was to be good...
Kanaya even plucked flowers from the garden she was keeping, making a corsage for both her and Rose and baking one of Rose's favorite dishes, even though she had to enlist the help of Karkat to do so (the most complex thing that Dave had ever made was ramen noodles, and Terezi and a stove sounded like a bad idea, and Gamzee... well, Gamzee wasn't really an option).
"Why're you going through all this trouble? Seriously, Kanaya. She doesn't want to be impressed or any of that shit, she likes you! That's enough!" "Yes, Karkat, I realize that. Still though, I would like to impress her because I care about her. I want to make it seem like I put effort into it, and--"Only for you to fucking blow off her praise and blush for the rest of the night. Whatever, Kanaya."
"Hey, Kan! I'm no alarm clock but it's six," Dave called through the door, causing Kanaya to jump. "Yes, thank you Dave," she blurted back and finished applying her lipstick. Time to party, or so the saying went.
She met Rose in the common room, the human girl blushing a bit and waving in an obviously-nervous way. Kanaya returned the gesture, in an equally awkward way she assumed. Suddenly, Dave was gone and it was just the two of them. "Um, I made dinner..." Rose smiled, more sure of herself. "That sounds lovely. We should eat now then."
Dinner passed well, Kanaya thought. No incidents, just quiet converation about the amount of time left until they would meet up with the others. The Jade blooded girl did feel a pang of jealousy when Rose talked about John, though. Both of them were well aware of Karkat's shipping chart.
"That was wonderful, Kanaya. Wherever did you find the recipe?" Rose asked when she had finished, wiping her mouth carefully with a napkin so not to smear her lipstick. "Dave had supplied it," Kanaya answered and that was only half true. Dave helped her alchemize the ingredients, sure, but hours of scouring to find it was all Kanaya. Karkat was right; she wasn't taking praise. Ah well.
After dinner, the two went for a walk, down the familiar hallways and careful to avoid places where the others might be; it was their time together, after all. "Rose," Kanaya started and Rose turned to her, "do you ever miss the way things were before you began to play Sgrub-- erm, Sburb?" Rose bit her lip, glancing away in thought and hmming. "Well, Kanaya. I have to say that I do, in some ways. I miss my mother, and I miss my home. I miss the feelings of familiarity. But, I also wouldn't have met you or Karkat or Terezi or Gamzee, Sollux or Aradia, and all of the other now-deceased members of your party had I not played. I must say that I don't regret playing, but I do miss things every now and then. Is that the answer you were looking for?"
Kanaya smiled, and it was brighter than the other smiles that she'd had that night. "Yes, Rose. That was a good answer."
And here's a small drabble, to make up for the lateness!! Consider it holiday-spirited?
"Rose, oh, Rose, there you are! I have something for you!" Kanaya announces, attracting your attention. You slowly set your book down after carefully marking your place with a lilac-colored bookmark (made on a dreary day when you decided it was better to waste time than to overburden yourself. Yes, Rose Lalonde, your mother would be proud).
"What is it, Kanaya?" you ask her, genuinely curious. Though Kanaya is a wonderful and passionate person, you are certain that you haven't seen her this excited in a very long time.
"I alchemized this for you," Kanaya mumbled as she held out a pair of beautiful, aluminum knitting needles just like the ones you had when you started the game. You glance up at her for an explanation; she's quick to give you one.
"I understand that when you began your session, you were using knitting needles as your weapons and they were a gift from the John human-- I mean, John," she blushed as she caught herself, clearing her throat, "and while these do not come from him as your original pair did, they are similar in all other aspects and I hope that you will enjoy them and perhaps use them more for their intended purpose, if you do so choose, but what you use them for is your busine-"Thank you, Kanaya," you interrupt the flushing girl (and when you do, green spreads thicker on her cheeks), "I will use them for knitting and I do appreciate it."
