Oh great, my roommates had invited a few friends over and they sat in the living room of my first apartment talking, laughing, and eating pizza. There they were, without a care in the world in the front room, as I was kneeled on the floor in the bathroom in prayer. What a scene! This was my first apartment and I was really on my own. Little did I know during this period in my life as I settled in to my new place, new city, found a job, and worked through difficult friendships and relationships, that the confusions and questions I had in my beliefs would begin to take hold of me in this very apartment. I looked down at the light blue bath mat in our bathroom, which I was kneeling down on to avoid the cold floor. There I was, feeling somewhat foolish that I was praying while my roommates and friends laughed and joked just down the hallway.
