he knows exactly why he’s going, & in that, he knows he can’t ( talk ) him out of it either. FEAR is swallowed down in a moment, & he tries to return the look with one of his own. “ you know that i know the fastest route there. i can help. ” is more of a plead than a volunteer to arms. & he’s selfish; he would follow him anyway.

❛ Becker has died. ❜ ( -kisses xoxo- )

ALEX MAY OR may not have heard something about an asset out of containment. in fact, he also may or not have been on his way up to ask which asset, so he could be certain to avoid that area in his next tour. he’s only barely stepped into the control room when he sees the tiny screens with names on the GIANT monitor.

IT’S VERY POSSIBLE that he just felt his heart fall right down into his stomach. the asset in question is the only asset that he disapproves of. the one that’s also just assumed to have just eaten the raptor handler, or so he can put together from the shaky words of some assistant. but more importantly, they sent out a team. & becker may or may not be leading, he actually can’t tell from this angle.

THERE’S A FEELING in his stomach, something akin to déjà vu. something he hasn’t felt for a few years now. not since---- well, since the death of his sister. & it takes alex all of a moment to piece it all together.

THE I-REX IS loose. becks & his team are going to try to get the situation under control. the door opens behind him, & owen strides past him. okay-- that’s a good sign. if he got away, then maybe so can becker. at least, that’s his prayer for the moment. he’s more focused on the screens than on anything else around him, so when the names on the monitor flicker & red lines FLATTEN, it hits him the worst.

HE GASPS QUITE loudly, & the panic in that single gasp snaps a few people’s attention to him. t hey can see just how pale he’s gotten, & someone is trying to ask him something, but the voice is muffled to him at best. he’s only focused on one pulse, & one name on the screen, & as long as that pulse is still a pulse, then alex is alright. since his sister, he’s never been a religious man; but in the past few minutes he has said so many prayers that the pope would be proud. probably.

EACH SCREAM HEARD from each member of the team will haunt him for years to come, but none as bad as his. at the sound of BECKER’S scream, alex falls to his knees, & he begins shaking at the sight of becker’s pulse racing & racing

until it stops.

ALEX IS FROZEN in place, his wide eyes never tearing away from the flat line beside the name & face. people are talking, but he doesn’t hear them. doesn’t want to hear them. that’s all he was to a few of them, he assumes. just a name & a face. but he was much more than that to him. he doesn’t know what to do, but somehow he’s on the ground now, sobbing & screaming at everyone who tries to comfort him. they don’t understand. no one will ever understand. even HE doesn’t understand. he probably never will.

HE WAS ONLY there to listen as his world was once again pulled out from under him ----only this time, Becker isn’t there to pull him back up. He’s alone. & always will be.
