Back in 1996, good music spread through word of mouth and mixed tapes. You’d be at either Chain Reaction or The Barn sporting buzzed bleached hair and a chain wallet when someone would hand you a copy of Skratch Magazine. Through some miracle you’d stumble across your next favorite band while sitting in your dented white Buick Skylark with a cigarette-burned interior. Longfellow, the emo-punk minstrels that epitomized teenaged angst, struck a chord and staked their claim on Orange County youth culture. Twenty years later, the ex-members of Longfellow have formed a new project: Sederra. Now the difference between Sederra and Longfellow is quite like the dynamics between boyhood optimism and the stark reality of adulthood. Themes of unfulfilled love and loss never left, yet Sederra has a familiar nostalgic yearning, a desire to warn past selves not to make the same drunken mistakes. Sederra's memorable lyrics are dark with shocked realizations of what comes with age. And like all fine bourbons, age hits hard and makes your head spin. Sederra is the type of band you’d play during your angry post-breakup road trip to Vegas with your best friend, a case of Pabst Blue, a handle of Jack Daniels, and a fair amount of illegal fireworks. On Saturday 3/5 at 3:00pm PST, Sederra will be On Tour Now’s esteemed guests. The band will discuss their current musical adventures, promote the reformation of Longfellow for the Jon Bunch memorial concert at the Yost Theater on March 20th, attempt to beat @jjuujjuuband Geometry Wars high score, and play Fallout 4 with host Greg Wilmot. Tune in this Saturday at 3:00pm PST sharp to On Tour Now (https://gaming.youtube.com/ontournow) for some skatepark grinding fun with Sederra.

Sick Puppies Live at The Glass House
A few days ago I traveled down the West Coast to Pomona, CA. The reason I was there? To see Sick Puppies on tour on July 20th, celebrating the release of their latest album, titled Connect.
The first act to take the stage was a band named Sederra, hailing from Orange County. Their blend of indie and hard rock, combined with the band members' passionate energy on stage, made them one of the best opening acts I have ever seen.
The next act was Reverend Crow, a trio also hailing from south California. Their music was definitely very melodic and had most of the crowd swaying along.
And finally, Sick Puppies took the stage. The lights began flashing, and the unbearable anticipation was palpable as we saw the drummer, Mark Goodwin, sneak onto the set. Shim, lead vocalist and guitarist, and Emma, backup vocalist and bassist, ran out soon after him, launching into "Die To Save You", their first song off of their new record, Connect.
(You can find more videos from the concert on my YouTube channel.)
The band played a variety of songs from all three of their records. Shim had the whole jumping as they played "Connect", telling us to put our hands on the person in front of us and "connect" with each other.
Another moment during the concert was when he attempted to crowd surf by jumping into the very much surprised people next to me! It didn't last for long as the security guard pulled him back over the barricade and we had to hoist him back up.
Honestly, seeing Sick Puppies live was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. I even got to meet the band, and that was absolutely priceless!
What are some of your favorite memories from a concert you went to?
