So it seems like there is always discourse about seedcest, and I would just like to say, anyone else who posts a ship that isn't seedcest usually tags their posts with the ship tag.

Also, incest isn't something a lot of people want to see, because it's not just a ship dynamic; it's something that happens to real people (predominantly vulnerable children, because pedophilia goes hand in hand with it) and drives many to suicide.

Before it crosses the mind of whoever is reading this, I know about the fact that people in this fandom ship toxic dynamics. That's why people apply the ship tag to the posts.

It's a false equivalency to take away the attention from the issue of incestuous abuse by pushing the "blame" elsewhere; something that I gather is that a lot of you either do not have siblings, or more specifically, brothers.

I have an older brother, and a stepsister. I am unable to interact with sibcest fictional content because of the fact that I have real-life siblings, and I find the concept generally repulsive. Just like rape. I will say more than anything, parental incest is repulsive because I do have a personal life experience with it.

Not to trauma-dump but it seems necessary for making this more real for some people.

Truly I just think people are getting a bit chronically online about this or feeling victimized for the fact that they write about/draw abusive incest porn and that some people may not like it. Just gonna put it plainly.

Putting this into perspective seems to be the best shot we have at this, but previously it seems that this very topic killed the fandom before.

Incest is real, and is a form of sexual abuse.

It's a lot more common than you think.

And it's not people being wimps or just shitting on your ship, it's people being uncomfortable with something that's a real issue and can remind people of their trauma, ptsd.

On the topics of other ships or fetishes in fanart and fanfic, I personally do not care what people create on their own time, but I do care about not having to see it if it's something I do not want to. When it comes to people posting or writing anything from slight dubcon to snuff-film style writing, as long as it is tagged properly, I do not care.

As a survivor, I do not want to consume sexualized incest, csa, or rape content. So I block the tags.

Please tag posts appropriately so it's less "fandom drama" and more "out of sight, out of mind" energy, so we can literally move past this after almost 8 years now as a fandom.

Hello my fellow Far Cry 5 enthusiasts.

I write this post as someone who loves this fandom and detests purity culture (especially when people in said culture have the audacity to write a shame post with every Far Cry 5 related tag imaginable so the shame targets can see it), and just want to remind everyone in this fandom (especially the puritans shaming our own): we are writing fanFICTION. Emphasis on the FICTION.

Writing uncomfortable or triggering stories, especially including topics like incest and dub/noncon, are not reflective of your or my own morals. People who write incest do not want to fuck their siblings, or their parents, or any other relative. We are not “criminals” or “pedos” or “breaking the law” or “morally impure, disgusting and evil” or any other bullshit that purity culture call people for writing a couple dark and uncomfortable fics, whether it be incest, dub/noncon and a number of other dark content.

Now, I myself have never gotten into nor really understood the appeal of Seedcest (or writing incest in general), nor have I really cared. You know why I don’t really care? Because it’s fanfiction. It’s just as valid as writing as a fluffy or angsty or whump fanfic. It’s not harming anyone, especially when most (if not all) are appropriately tagged to let people know that there is incest in it (same goes for other objectively uncomfortable or triggering content). You are not obligated to read every fic known to man, especially if it makes you uncomfortable. You are not obligated nor do you have to read a fic with incest in it. You can simply filter your tags, or if it really triggers you that much, just press the block button (on Tumblr) and/or mute button (on AO3). Like that’s basic Fandom Etiquette 101.

Making a post targetted towards our own fellow fandom enjoyers to shame them for what they write does not make you right or morally better than anyone here. Insinuating that these mutual’s of ours are corrupt, disgusting and criminal for writing a couple Seedcest fics is baseless, tone deaf, and frankly, makes you an asshole. Your censorship, your shaming… is unwelcome here.

Also bringing up the real life after effects of Jaws release is invalidated by the fact Jaws was made during a time where the public didn’t have a great understanding of sharks in general, and were already pretty scared of them due to the Marines propaganda long before Jaws release, but is also invalidated by trying to convince us that a little fanfiction with a little incest between brothers (and/or sister) is on the same length of influence as one of Steven Spielbergs best known Blockbuster Thrillers in the mid-1970s.

The summary of this post: practice fandom etiquette, you are not morally inferior for writing dark/uncomfortable topics, puritans you are not morally superior for bitching and moaning about topics that people have written about since fucking Supernatural so either grow up or go sit back in your little echo chambers, and most importantly of all mutuals… look out for each other.

Side note to any incest or dub/noncon or in general dark writer out in the FC5 fandom, I encourage you to write more Seedcest and dark fics just to piss on the puritans. Please, do it for me! Do it for YOU! It’ll be so funny!
