“But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” –James 2:18
FAITH is not stagnant; we are called to move from glory to glory and from faith to faith. Our faith is supposed to be constantly expanding and maturing as we grow in Christ. Many view faith as passive, but faith needs to be active. Faith is not wishful thinking and sitting around idly; that is hope. Faith is active, dynamic, and in the NOW! In order to see what we are believing for come to pass, we have to plant seeds. If you do not plant anything, then you will not reap anything. You cannot expect to reap from a harvest that you did not sow into. One type of seed that needs to be planted is a seed of action. As we see in the above scripture, we need to pair our works and faith together because it is by our works that people will see what we believe. HOW DO WE PLANT SEEDS OF ACTION? Well, I am glad you asked:
Align your conduct to what you are believing God for. For example, if you are believing God for a financial breakthrough, continue sowing financial seeds as God directs you. Also, begin being a better steward over what you currently have so that God can see that you are ready for more. God wants to bless us but He first needs to see that we can be trusted.
Align your thoughts with God's thoughts. The Bible tells us that as a man thinks, so is he. Your thoughts have a direct effect on what you do because your actions will follow where your mind leads. Clear your mind of all blocks that may prevent or delay you from sowing these seeds of action, such as fear, rejection, and worry. Instead, align your mind to God's thoughts on the matter. When we have Gods mindset, we are free to take action because we are no longer bound to counter productive ways of thinking.
Actively work towards your purpose and the visions that God has given you. God has given all of us a unique purpose and a personal vision. Our purpose isn’t going to be handed to us perfected and in completion, we have to go through the process and work towards it. In order to plant seeds of action towards your purpose, be faithful to the assignments that God has given you. Every time you do what God has asked you to do, you are sowing a seed that will bring you one step closer to the purpose God has for you. Actively planting seeds towards your purpose will not only bring you closer to it, will help you see yourself walking in it.
Planting seeds of action is only the first step. You cannot plant something and just leave it there and hope for the best. Whatever you plant, you have to tend to and nurture or else it will die. Keep a look out for a blog about nurturing and protecting your seeds later in the series. As we have mentioned before, October is a month of harvest and it is time to TAKE ACTION!Whether you start small or take a giant leap, get moving because your harvest is determined by the actions that you take today.
