Some of you may be thinking "but money doesn't grow on trees," "not money again," or "what do they mean a seed of finances?" Planting a financial seed is done in faith. It is an act done not knowing the outcome but believing God will multiply what you sow, plant, or give.
Basic Principles on Finances (according to the Kingdom of God)
The area of finances is a huge stronghold we face today. What do we mean by stronghold? A stronghold is
Why does God see finances/money as a seed? It takes a lot hard work, energy, and brain power to earn the money we have. We earned it. Since it is a limited resource, we spend money on the things we want and need immediately. God wants us to trust Him to give us the things we want and need. He is a great Father, but we need to recognize Him and treat Him as such in out individual lives.
Your "first fruits" are a sacrifice of your first income for the year. (See Proverbs 3:9)
Your tithes are 10% of your gross increase. This includes money from your job, scholarships, and gifts. When we say "gross", we mean before you take out taxes. This 10% represents your taxes to the Kingdom of Heaven and until we pay them, we are indebted to God.
Our offering is whatever we give to God in excess of our tithes. We are supposed to do this out of love and obedience, and it should be given cheerfully and voluntarily. (When it is forced and done in response to manipulation, we miss out on part of the blessing.)
REVIEW: Questions to ask yourself
Do you put more of your trust in your job than you do God?
Have you tried God in the area of finances?
Have you forgiven those people who have ruined your trust with finances?
Ask God what seed(s) He wants because He knows the price of what He is trying to give you.
Never go to the house of God without a sacrifice. The doesn't have to always be money, but it must be something of value to you like a watch or shoes. If it means nothing to you it will mean nothing to God.
RESTORE: Break the strongholds in your mind
God created us to be prosperous. Break the religious mentality that Christians have to be broke and that we can't have nice things. If out Heavenly Father has streets of gold, why do you think He has an issue with you prospering? He is the owner of all the silver and all the gold. He doesn't want to just meet your needs, He wants to give you the abundance so that you can be a blessing to others and help build up His kingdom.
God understands that we are on this earth and it takes money to get some things done. do not be afraid of wealth. Just realize it is not only for you. It cannot be multiplied while still in your hand, so do not fear sowing because it is one of the keys to your breakthrough. DO NOT MISTAKE ME: you cannot buy your blessings. BUT for many of us, money will seep into the place where only God is supposed to fill. So its good to lay it down at the feet of Jesus. He ultimately wants your heart and your heart cannot have two masters (God and money).
Our job is simple. Position yourself.
His Word says He will not be mocked.
We don't give money to God because He needs it, we do it to worship and honor Him
When you don't give God His cut, money will slip through your hands quicker.
We need the fear of God in our finances.
When we are in right-standing with God in our finances, we can rightfully expect a return on those seeds.
God loves a cheerful giver.
Testimony 1: God provided finances for Jasmine to attend UM for four years of undergrad without having to pay the school a dime. She actually had money left over. Some scholarships she received while in high school and some she received while in college. As a private institution, the cost of attendance exceeded $50,000 per year. Now she has graduated with her Bachelors degree and secured a full-time job a year and half in advance.
Testimony 2: Not knowing how God would truly provide for her needs, Alisha was tested in paying her rent when she had just quit her job to go to school. What God did was completely unexpected. She explains that "the day I went to inform them I needed an extension [to pay the balance], they looked and said "ma'am, you actually have a positive balance.'" Alisha continues to say, "at THAT point I knew God was real because I know it couldn't have been anyone else."
We pray that you learned something and are encouraged to sow financial seeds! There is breakthrough and increase with your name on it.
