Seemandhara Congress in fresh anti-T move
Hyderabad: Now feeling the heat of mass ire against their seeming inaction against bifurcation of the State, Seemandhra Congress leaders have begun to orchestrate their opposition to the division with a few
calculated moves.
At the vanguard are K Chiranjeevi, K Sambashiv Rao, D Purandeswari and others who will openly request the Centre to desist from finally carving out the Telangana state.
A high-profile team headed by Chiranjeevi may soon meet the party chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi with a request to give up the bifurcation move in view of mounting pressure from the rest of the regions against division.
“ We have not seen such an agitation anywhere in the
country. As the representatives of Seemandhra people, it is our responsibility to voice the concerns of the people of our region. We will fight according to their aspirations,” a union minister, who participated in the Seemandhra leaders meeting told Postnoon.
The fresh move will be followed by several other pressure tactics to convince their people that giving up positions was not the only means available to them. People in the two regions had been accusing the Congress leaders of playing it safe and doing nothing to prevent cutting up of the State.
There seems to unity among all the Seemandhra leaders on one issue — quitting from their posts with the demand of a United AP. Despite the demands from all quarters of Seemandhra region, the leaders have decided to adopt wait and watch policy instead of tendering their resignations in a hurry. The idea of the leaders is to participate in the proceedings of Parliament after the introduction of separate Telangana State creation bill.
