Spent this morning finishing off #SeeMySelfie Day 18 - “I woke up like this”

Okay so this is the last day of SeeMySelfie and I’m kinda sad about that. It’s become comfortable to see the same people liking my selfies everyday and always having likes. I know I always say that it’s not about the likes but lets be fair its always nice to see that notification. But my idea of me has changed and I’m not 100% sure how I feel about that. The idea of having to take a picture everyday is weird. When it’s by choice it’s different. A lot of the provocations have made me think or nervous, but everyday I have posted a selfie. Theres something empowering about posting a picture of myself every day and being comfortable in doing so, even if my hair hasn’t gone right or I don’t really want to. SeeMySelfie has helped me own myself and my image.

Day 24: Alter Ego!

#SeeMySelfie #Day24: "To take this selfie, I put Fleetwood Mac on full blast, smeared myself in glitter, adorned myself with rings and amulets and draped my favourite silk robe over my shoulders like a cape. From September to May I'm a serious academic weighed down by textbooks, but as soon as summer hits, I transform like a butterfly into a witchy, wavy, festival-going mystic. I can't wait to swing by Shambala and Boomtown and all my other favourite little hippie gatherings across the country - it's such a welcome break from my regular life. If you see me in a field somewhere this summer, wielding my Tarot deck and surrounded by a fog of nag champa, come say hi!"

#seemyselfie #day17 Channel a woman that inspires you... Okay I think this might be slightly cheating but obviously I've gone for @_jk.rowling! Not only does JK herself inspire me for showing me that depression won't control your life for ever and it's okay to fail, but every female character in the Harry Potter series inspires me or has taught me something. Whether it's Lily who taught me that love is the strongest force in the universe, Mrs Weasley that took in young Harry as her own when she was already struggling, and strengthened that belief in me then went to onto defeat Bellatrix when she threatened Ginny. Even Bellatrix taught me that just because you love someone doesn't mean they have to love you back, it doesn't mean you're going to love them any less! Luna taught me to be myself, some people won't like it but that shouldn't matter to me. Tony's taught me that sacralises must be made and just because you're a hufflepuff doesn't mean that you're not totally bad ass! Hermione taught me that girls can be heroes! That women are strong and powerful. That sometimes to save the ones you love you must do what's right and not what is easy! And finally Minerva taught me that just because people under estimate you doesn't mean you can't be a total badass and fight for what you believe in! And none of these characters would have been able to influence, guide, and inspire me if it wasn't for the wonderful writings of a wonderful woman! (Thanks JK for making my childhood magical and reminding me happiness can be found in the darkest of times if I remember to turn on the light!) @girlgangmcr @girlgangsheffield
