PSA: Possibility of Redesign
Okay, I should admit something... it’s not gonna be pretty, but... I feel like I need to say it.
I may be redesigning Luca, none of his lore or fundamental character traits are changing, but, I AM going to change his character design.
As many of you are probably aware, Luca was not always an Original Character, at one time he was a FNAF4 Crying Child. However, when I inevitably left the fandom and I was defandomizing Luca into his own original thing, I had a lot of... roadblocks along the way, like an original redesign, all-original lore and all that stuff. I feel I may have... rushed his redesign and pushed him a little too hard into his new universe and didn’t take the time to sit down and decide ‘okay, what kind of design can I make for Luca to suit his new world?’
And, as many of you know I recently changed his abilities because I felt like they didn’t fit him, and I came up with ones that better fit his personality and would be better suited for the threads I intend to use them in where applicable.
One of the biggest problems I have with his redesign is I feel it too closely resembles his old design. I didn’t take any risks or capitalize on the things I liked about Luca, it was just a simple palette and clothing swap because I wanted to stay close to what I originally envisioned. However, as I’ve gone on with Luca, I feel like the design is a little too familiar, I personally am not satisfied with it. Beyond that, I feel there are some things about Luca’s design I could have/should have expanded on that I didn’t.
Another problem I have with Luca’s current design is that it’s incredibly difficult for me to draw. This is for various reasons, but it’s mainly related to his hair and wardrobe, and I think that if I changed up his design a little bit, that wouldn’t be such a problem.
I understand that followers from my crying child blog or followers that have grown close to me may be upset with this possibility, understandably, but I really feel like this might be the right direction to head. I’ve been forming concept art for what Luca may look like, and I’m going to try my best to keep the design familiar to what and who Luca is and what he stands for.
So, I don’t know what’s gonna happen yet, but... I think it’s time for a change.
