"Darling, don't cry..." The Priestess whispered as she brushed aside the young Justice's tears.
[Ken had never been one to cry, especially in front of others.]
[This, on the other hand, was a special case; though the brunet hadn’t quite intended to have tears streaming down his face, especially in front of somebody that lived in his dorm. Crying was often viewed as childish and pitiful, and so Ken had been accustomed to bottling up his feelings, especially because…his mother wouldn’t want to see him in such a miserable state if she was watching over him. However, this was a bit of an exception…]
[As it was one of his first few nights back at the dorm after the incident on October 4th, Ken was still both in a state of shock, and…depressed, after all had been said and done. He’d wanted his mother’s killer dead, gone…never to harm anyone again, but…maybe it was just something about actually seeing him die right before his eyes that caused him such great distress. Though Ken had often pictured himself finally ridding of his mother’s killer, then finally leaving the living world in the process to join her once her death had been atoned for…there was something about that fantasy that gave him determination. He wanted his mother’s killer to pay, just…not in the way he did.]
[Sacrificing himself, even saying that “this is how is should be” as his final words…giving Ken a reason to keep going, to live the life that his mother would’ve wanted him to live, despite her not being there…he couldn’t help feeling bitter, angry toward himself for not being able to do something more when his mother had first died, despising himself for deluding himself into thinking that his mother’s killer was just ruthless, when…in reality, he wasn’t that bad. Shinjiro had even given up his own life to save somebody that was threatening to kill him…but why? Why would he do such a thing, let Ken live, despite his hesitation to keep going…?]
[All of these thoughts, all of his regrets…they came rushing to him at once, and although he’d believed that he’d finally brought himself to his senses…here he was, bawling as though he was naught but an infant. Thinking himself to be all alone upstairs, he’d let himself get caught up in his thoughts, and ended up being seen by Fuuka—whom had, consequently, rushed over in order to try and ease his overwhelming sadness. Ken hated himself for being so careless as to let somebody see him like this, but…she now seemed determined to stay, even wiping some of his tears from his cheek. He didn’t quite know how to respond at first, and merely heaved with sobs for a moment before uttering a tiny, shaky response.]
