Thanks to @seersaw whose fanfic Nightfall inspired me to draw this. (extract on the above)

OK this is kinda weird, but I read your reply to the person who asked about Rollo and Easter when you were role-playing Gisla and I was wondering if you would pretty please write a fanfic of it. I just love your writing so much and even reading that reply gave me shivers. (Rollo being freaked out by the red eggs! it was perfect). I just love how you write the characters and know so much about the history of it. I miss when the show use to indulge in religion (1/2)

and other trivial stuff like that because it added such a rich texture. Ever since Athelstan died no one on the show seems to have any serious discussions about religion. I would love if you would write about other holidays to like christmas and stuff, but I would settle for your take on how Easter went between the two of them any day! Please, please, please consider writing it. -Seersaw

First of all, I’m horrible at handling compliments but ohmygod thank you for not only liking my writing so much but telling me about it. 

I totally agree, the show feels a lot more shallow now than it did. I just feel like Hirst is stretching it too thin and missing out on a lot of awesome stuff. I’m by no means a historical scholar; I do a lot of googling and fudging (not any more than Hirst, I mean he’s compressed like 200 years down to 10), my google history is jacked right now from looking up Easter traditions haha.

But I hadn’t even thought of writing a fanfic on it. I had settled that I might go back and write more on the yol episode, but I hadn’t thought about doing the feast days. Maybe after the season airs? I might even rewrite Yol, mainly cause you weren’t supposed to have intercourse on holy feast days and well…Hirst decided to go in the opposite direction…

Easter might end up being more interesting because Easter was a HUGE MEGA deal back then, way more so than Christmas. Also, I feel like it has more traditions and more stuff the make Rollo go “These crazy christians” which is always fun, to be honest. Hirst really hit hard the comic relief of Rollo being a fish out of water, but kinda miss the mark on Rollo’s reaction to them (which is odd cause he touched on it before; the look Rollo gives the priest at his baptism). 

On a side note; there’s a trailer for 4x07 that has Gisla praying to the virgin mary which I’m uber excited about.
