But seriously I don’t get Manny-hate. The dude is just doing his job protecting his home from legion douchebags and dealing with some unpleasant personal shit. Like what exactly does he do that makes him deserving of hate? The most he asks of the Courier is that they help stop the ghouls attacking his hometown because he himself can’t do it (since he’s gotta deal with the aforementioned legion douchebags). That’s hardly a selfish thing for him to ask. 

And he seems to be mostly unaware of the full extent of the Carla situation. As far as he knows some city girl (who he didn’t get along with to start) spent most of her time shit-talking his home and then broke his best friend’s heart by skipping town without a word of warning. No wonder he doesn’t speak kindly of her. People like to blame it on his jealousy but I think he’s got good reasons beside that to think of Carla the way he does. He has no way of knowing what really happened to her (since Boone refuses to speak to him about it and he wasn’t there when shit went down).

I think Manny is a good dude who is just trying to settle down in Novac and make ends meet. And he’s a lot nicer and more helpful than a ton of other new vegas characters.

Hey :) I've recently installed your theme on my blog and I have an issue with it - I hoped you might be able to help. The theme's name is "fiction". My problem is that pictures that have been included into captions, for some reason, get thinner and more narrow than they are supposed to be. You can see it if you go to the "toaster" tag on my blog (/tagged/toaster) - the second post shows exactly that. Asks are affected as well.

So, I wonder: how exactly did Lavellan manage to lead a resistance against Solas? After Trespasser the Inquisition either gets disbanded, or reduced to a shadow of what it once was - either way, this powerful organization does no longer exist at the end of DA:I, and the Inquisitor is no longer respected. So what did she do? What were her steps? How did she rebuild? I have been thinking about this myself, and I have troubles coming up with ideas - the task seems impossible.

The Inquisition operated through official channels in Thedas. Existing power structures, like the nobility, and the chantry. But those are not, necessarily, the most effective groups at countering something like Solas’ operations. Especially since Solas knows how their bureaucracy and systems work. This comes up a the end of Trespasser, with the Inquisitor asserting that they need to find different sorts of connections, and operate in a new way if they don’t want Solas to entirely predict all of their movements.

The Inquisitor is no longer revered. Respect is another matter, and they can still have a lot of that from plenty of their allies. People like the Chargers, the Red Jennies, the Divine, Dorian’s political revolutionaries, the Grey Wardens, the mages-or-templars, and so forth. 

An Inquisition is not what’s required to stop Solas. Armies aren’t what’s required. Armies are big and noisy and obvious, and when your enemy can blink and turn half of them into stone anyway, they’re never going to overwhelm him. What’s needed is knowledge. Stealth. The ability to figure out what he’s doing and how he might be countered. Traps, ambushes, misdirection, surgical strikes, etc.

Depending on your choices, by the time you get to Trespasser, you can have Solas’ spies, the Inquisition’s spies, Briala’s spies, qunari spies, and the Red Jennies all running around exchanging secret handshakes with one another in the background of everything you do. Everyone is playing in the shadows. A big, highly visible organization like the Inquisition is actually a liability in that sort of game. You want to disappear. You want to keep operations small and limited to trusted people; you don’t want tons of unfamiliar recruits and servants and soldiers all running around, potentially listening in at doorways and slipping information everywhere. They’re not going to be effective against Solas, and any given one of them might be reporting back to him.

Or at least, that’s how I figure it.
