Happy 1st of Halloween!
This month I hope (finger's crossed!) to bring you a new spooky/autumn-inpired DIY every week!
Starting of with these super cute, super easy fabric pumpkins.
I know there are tons of ways to make these and a dozen tutorials on each one. I have to say that I prefer the look of 'segment pumpkins' over the gathered fabric pumpkins (basically you sew a tube of fabric, gather at the bottom, fill with fiber stuffing, gather at the top).
I used a free pattern from STOFF & STIL, which comes in only one size (and in German). I used the given size as the medium size and added/ substracted a few centimetres to create the other two. The pattern says to use six segments but I used eight for the small and medium pumpkin! The large pumpkin uses the suggested six segments.
There are several options for the pumpkin stems as well. For my 'Golden Autumn' pumpkins I ordered resin stems off of etsy and for my 'Chandelier' pumpkins I rolled up some leftover pleather, glued together with fabric glue.
I love going wild decorations but tried to keep it simple. The 'Golden Autumn' pumpkins have leaves made from silk velvet (intended for millinery) and the 'Chandelier' Pumpkins are decorated with lace bows. The large pumpkin is even adorned with a small chandelier pendant.
If you're interested in making some fabric pumpkins yourself Made to Sew has a free tutorial and pattern for these in English.
Happy sewing!
