Finally finished the world's weirdest bonnet!
aka the 'Mary Sunhat'
I'm quite happy with it but there's a few things I'd do differently next time:
Put wire in the brim. I used decovil as stabilizer and it's floppier than I would like. Or perhaps I'll try buckram
reposition the snaps. The snaps are placed in such a way that the back overlap gapes quite a bit. I fixed it by placing adding a second pair of snaps on this one
probably size down a bit
find a way to actually make this stay on my head? this straps aren't doing anything tbh!
But isn't it cute?!?!
BEFORE AND AFTER
What I wore for DoKomi sunday
It is done! Not perfect but done!
It's a 'fashion corset', that uses zip ties as boning sind closes with hook and eye tape at the side seam.
Zip ties are a perfectly functional and inexpensive type of boning, if you're not actually planning on dramatically cinching your waist!
You know what day it is! It is work-in-progress-wednesday!
This is a project from my Ufo pile that was started in 2022 and has moved with me twice.
When it's finished it's supposed to look like this:
FUN FACT: the blue fabric is a leftover from this dress.
Quick Room Tour because it will probably never be this tidy again 🫠
My life has been going through so many changes in the last couple of years and probably will be for the next couple of years.
So I make the most of what I have while I have it.
Also please welcome my new sewing machine!
After 13 years with my old trusty Lady, I finally rehomed her with a sewing beginner just as I was all those years ago.
And yes, the pink just did it for me! But also it suits my needs and more importantly my Budget.
Here's to many more sewing adventures in the next 13 years!
