1. One of the earliest whump scenes/stories you enjoyed.

i was a warriors/wings of fire kid, and those books are actually so gorey looking back on it. some guy nine times in a row because he’s torn open on reinforced claws. pretty neat

2. A whump thing you’re always delighted to see.

when i’m reading/watching something and a character starts acting off or distant, and THEN it’s revealed they’ve been hiding an injury?? holy SHIT. makes me kick my feet every time

3. A creative whump idea you’re proud of.

this one is very hard. i would have to say, in scientia et labor, when sage’s wing restraints were welded while they were on their wings? so not only are they trapped, but they’re near impossible to get off and their feathers and skin are burned and melted

Day 43: Impaled (Scientia et Labor)

Media/universe: Scientia et Labor (OCs) (non-ffg writing?? in this economy??)

“Shit-” Rob dropped his flashlight and camera, dimly processing the sound of the lens shattering. “Fuck, are you okay? What happened to you?”

The figure curled in on themselves, arms crossed over their bare stomach. Rob realized with a guilty jolt that their mouth was forced shut by a wire muzzle, gleaming in the light of Rob’s cracked flashlight.

“Hold on,” Rob said apologetically, reaching up slowly toward the clasps on either side of their shadowed face. They stood obediently still, letting him remove the painful contraption and watching as he threw it to the side. “Better?”

The stranger nodded, taking a deep breath. “Thank you, sir,” they said, voice raspy from disuse.

Rob blinked. “Uh- you don’t have to call me that,” he assured. “Can I get you off of there?” He gestured to the stone block they were standing on.

“Yes, sir.”

“Alright,” he sighed, figuring he could address the ‘sir’ thing later. “I’m going to help you down, okay?”

Fear flashed over the person’s face for just a moment before they corrected themselves. “Yes, sir.”

“Is something preventing you from getting down safely?” Rob tried, leaning to pick up his flashlight. He shone it over the stranger’s legs and torso, but couldn’t see anything that would stop them from moving.

“The pins, sir.”

“Pins? What-”

Rob gasped as the light fell over the wall beside the person. Two giant, golden-brown wings were spread over the stone, stained with dried blood and dust. He barely had time to process them before he realized why they were positioned so stiffly; two sharp metal pins were stuck into each wing, driven straight through the feather and muscle into the wall behind them.

“Fuck,” Rob breathed, hands beginning to shake. “Jesus, how- who did this to you?”

The person frowned as though it was obvious. “My masters, sir.”

Day 21: Heavy Shackles (Scientia et Labor)

“Hold on, let me-” Rob gently readjusted Sage’s wings, trying to see the restraints better. They whined, their aching joints stretched and bent uncomfortably.

A large metal shackle bound the top of their wings, making them completely unable to unfold into a comfortable position. Two metal rods stretched to another loop near the base of their back, rendering all other movements impossible.

“Hold on, let me find the lock-” Being careful to 

Rob searched the rest of the contraption, but there didn’t seem to be a padlock or keyhole anywhere. The skin around the metal was raw and burned, and Rob realized with a shudder that some of it stuck to the metal unnaturally.

“Did they weld this onto you?”

Sage shrugged, the motion scraping metal across their already sore skin. “Maybe.”

“Jesus Christ,” Rob breathed, leaning back. “Okay, uh- I can’t get it off here, I don’t have any tools. Are you okay wearing it home?

They nodded, glancing over their shoulder at Rob. “Thank you,” they said quietly, voice hoarse.

“Of course, Sage. I promise I’ll make this better.”
