Heyy, I was just wondering. I never watched Girls. Is Adam the father of Hannah's child?
Don’t worry, a lot of people don’t. In short, No. Adam isn’t the father.
Adam wanted to get back with Hannah in the Season 4 end, but she rejected him (she’s in the right by doing so) so she’s single and meets this surfing instructor named Paul Louis. They have Sex and Hannah gets pregnant. Adam basically is now with Hannah’s best friend Jessa (totally betraying her) and he doesn’t find out about the pregnancy until the last season, and she tells him that she’s not involving the father.
To give you some context: Paul Louis is in an open relationship with his Girlfriend and is NOT ready for a kid, so that leaves Hannah to raise her baby alone. Adam finds out and because the man has a savior complex, he leaves Jessa (Hannah’s ex-BFF) in a very impersonal manner and tells Hannah that he missed her and wants to raise the baby with her.
At first it’s good; they have sex and spend the day together talking and planning for the baby, so it’s like they’re picking up where they left off, and frankly it’s great. Ultimately the episode has a bittersweet ending with them talking about HOW they’re gonna live together and what will they do for income; leading them to realize that they’re just too different now and that they’ve grown apart. They start silently crying as they realize that their relationship wouldn’t work out, despite how much they love each other because they want/prioritize different things now. So they end the episode awkwardly talking about what’re they gonna do that night. Hannah goes home and Adam goes back to his apt (and presumably back to Jessa). It’s honestly one of the most beautiful poignant scenes in the show. That’s where my Adam x Reader fic Beyond Words start, because that’s the last that we see Adam, so we don’t really see the fallout of this whole thing.
