persian rugs and an inability to get A’s
there is this thing that persian rug-makers do. they make an intentional wrong stitch in their rugs, or a pattern. they believe only god is allowed to make perfect things. anyone else doing that, is making a blasphemous statement.
how does this relate to me? ( if it didn’t , i really wouldn’t bother writing about it) well i think i suffer from the same thing. there are so many limitations i/we put on myself/ourselves. you can’t be this happy, only achievers are allowed to be this happy. you can’t get an A in this course, that’s only for smart people. you can’t talk to that person, they’re cool.
who is the blasphemy against in this case? there is no god here. it’s against the images we make up in our minds. we classify people as achievers, smart or cool. and label ourselves as being (or more commonly not being) these things. it’s weird how we limits ourselves with our own thinking.
