7 weeks into Autumn and this is what's going on in one of my vegie beds.

These 2 volunteer cherry tomato plants are now 6 months old. They are sharing a bed with mid life cycle cauliflower plants and Winter peas (growing on the green trellis).

The tomato plants are not just the remnants of Summer. They are continuing to flower and set new trusses.

They are also throwing out copious new growth from side shoots off the main stem.

I think this is the first time I have ever had tomatoes, cauliflower and Winter peas all thriving along concurrently in the same bed. Am starting to wonder if I may indeed see ripe tomatoes and cauliflowers side by side in the same dirt!

Wall garden. Entirely self-seeded vegetation on this perpetually damp part of a sheer wall of Sydney Sandstone, quarried out to about 30 ft down above an older road cutting, carting away solid sandstone - the 19th century building material of choice. The resulting narrow ribbon park around the rock face was named the Sarah Peninton Reserve in 1951. Peninton was one of the leading sympathisers and chief provocateurs in the local timber and dock workers strike of 1929. Solidarity forever. Glebe.

The accidental gardener! I only planted the geraniums; the rest is all self-seeded, sweet alyssum and lobelia. 17/6/17

For a few reasons, I wasn't going to grow tomatoes this year.

Then I added some compost to a few beds to help refresh them.

Apparently there were many tomato seeds in that compost.

Now I am growing around 200 tomato plants, but not all will survive.

Let the tomato Hunger Games begin!!!

Still going strong despite the storms 28/9/23.

Pretty much horizontal but doesn't seem to care it's growing in a shallow bulb pot.

First sunflower!

No, none of our giant sunflowers are blooming, yet. In fact, we didn’t even plant these ones.

Bird seed and deer feed we’ve been leaving at one end of a flower garden have been sprouting. Much of it is in the grass and gets mowed, but right under the platform feeder, we’re letting them grow.

I was surprised to see a sunflower blooming this morning. They are all really quite small…
