5/8/18 Slightly disappointing crop of potatoes this year, despite the weather, or perhaps because of the sudden heat and #heatwave! Perhaps I had too many potatoes in one bag too. Some of the plants were spent but there was one that was still green and ‘growing’ so maybe I should’ve given it a couple more weeks, but that’s the problem with #containergardening, you have to commit once you start! It was interesting to see how the potatoes form though (see pics 4 and 5) Let’s hope they taste nice anyway 🥔 #growyourown #growyourownveg #potato #potatoes #balconygarden #balconygardening #thegardeninggoodlife

The #balconygarden is full of self-seeded epilobium hirsutum, also called hairy willowherb and the purple-pink flowers are very pretty. Here they are blooming in my ‘found’ trough where things have either self-seeded or I’ve added cuttings or rescued plants, including violas and oxalis growing in pathways, destined to be trodden on. They are all doing well!
