Flufftober 15 - “This looks fun.” - “Not the word I would use, but okay.”
A/N: Day fifteen of this challenge.
"Remind we, why we are here?" You walked slightly behind Mark. Huck and Tom were sitting on his shoulders.
You and BSD Cast were on a camping trip in a mountain forest. The camp was seta few hours ago and everyone were free to do whatever they wanted. Mark asked you to follow him up to the mountain.
"We are going adventuring." Mark didn't look at you, there was a spring in his step.
Well, it wasn't good. But it was good, that the camp was set by the river, and you won't have troubles to find it.
Adventure was short lived. When you two got high enough, Mark pointed at something before him.
And you look. At two rafts in the river. There was safety ropes that didn't let them float down the river.
"Let's go down the river on them. I spent quite some time making them."
"Why?" your voice was emotionless.
"Not the word I would use, but okay." You whispered, so Mark didn't hear you. Meanwhile, he jumped on one of the rafts. It sank a bit. Tom and Huck floated above his shoulders.
"Mark, I don't think it's a good idea..." Started you.
The safety rope got loose, and the raft with Mark floated down the river.
You, Tom and Huck just started at the direction of Mark's raft.
Soon, you heard screaming.
"That's not how it supposed to be!"
You jumped on the second raft, grabbing the long pole to navigate it.
"Tom, fly forward! Warn others in the camp! Huck, with me, let's try to catch Mark."
"Got it!" Said a pair in the unison, following your orders.
You and Huck almost got to Mark. All of you were fine, but quite wet. You must reach the camp soon. You hopped, that Tom already got there.
Then you saw a large net that was now blocking the river, together with familiar tentacles.
Tom was tangled into the net, and you were yanked from the rift by Lovecraft.
Later, when you and Mark were sitting by the fire, drying off, yiu noticed a sour expression on his face.
"Mark? Do you want to talk?"
"I... I am sorry. I wanted to do something fun with you. Instead I forced you to save me. I wanted a good adventure for you and me."
You gave him a small smile.
"Mark, to be fair, I found today's situation scary but it was a good adventure. Say... Next time, let's prepare better."
Mark looked at you with hope in his eyes.
"Why not? A good adventure sounds good from time to time."
A bright smile returned to Mark's face.
