New post. This is Snowy:
Snowy recently scared us out of our wits by suddenly spiking a high fever out of nowhere. We took him to the after-hours vet, and they gave him painkillers and antibiotics, and a $150 bill (woo hoo).
Fast-forward a couple of days, and Snowy isn’t feeling better, so I take him back to the vets. They speculate he might have FIP (which isn’t curable) and admit him overnight to administer fluids as he was dehydrated, and meds.
The next morning, he’s feeling much better. In fact, he’d got so bored overnight at the vets that he pulled out his dripline.
Now. At the moment, I’m not working. My husband is, but we are still on struggle street. He just started a new fulltime job a couple of months ago, and I’m about to start one at the end of the month. So, as you can imagine, we really didn’t have the funds for a nearly $700 vet bill. We were able to arrange a loan through a vet-led lending company, but that’s not ideal either as, of course, we have to pay it back.
We’re also two weeks behind on our rent, and while our landlords are lovely, patient people, it’s not fair that we are such erratic tenants right now.
I was a copy-editor for many years, and I am willing to put those skills to use. I will edit/beta anything. 1c per word. You will get the benefit of my 19 years’ experience, and my critical eye.
I also cross-stitch, and you can see some of my work here: https://www.instagram.com/maree_jane/
I’m keeping the cross-stitch offers fairly small, simply because of the time factor.
So I’m offering three bookmarks for $25. You supply the patterns, or charts, and I’ll supply the rest. I’ve been cross-stitching for years, and I have plenty of threads and fabric.
Or one 20cmx20cm picture for $50. Same deal - you supply the pattern or chart, and I’ll supply the materials.
I really want to be able to knock Snowy’s vet bill down, and to pay our landlords the rent we owe. I start work on October 24, but likely won’t get paid until 2-3 weeks in, as the job is paid fortnightly.
Any signal-boosting is also appreciated, and when I’m in a better position, I will pay all the help I receive - and have received - forward.
Thank you.
