The residents of her former home had told her of her misfortune. Explained the chain of events that had led to her memory being wiped. Their stories seemed bizarre at first; talk of vampires and monsters --claims that she was once one of these creatures. But as their faces had changed in front of her; morphed into demons --she believed. But Katherine cared very little for the fact that she had, on some level, lost her mind; the tales they had told her were far from pleasant in nature. According to those she had left behind in Mystic Falls, her long life had been filled with sorrow and fear. It was not something she wished to remember.
Feeling the need for a fresh start, a newly human Katherine Pierce had collected all the money she could find, packed up her belongings and left Mystic Falls behind. From what she had heard, her life had not been much of a life at all; not that she remembered a second of it. But it was time to start living.
College seemed to be a good start; friends, cute boys, parties, experiences and most importantly; memories. The female was in dire need of making memories. Katherine had opted for a dorm on campus where she had met her roommate; a cheerful redhead with a quick temper but good intentions. She had found that her new friends feisty attitude meshed well with her own. Luckily enough, the fiery haired girl had opted for the same major she had chosen for herself; psychology. And after finding that she had a talent for languages, the brunette had picked up classes in Bulgarian and Russian; oddly picking up both languages incredibly quickly.
Thankfully, her old life had left her with a substantial amount of money. Katherine was still unaware of what she had done prior to her move, but something had made her wealthy. Not that she was complaining; the money fueled her college life.
Things were progressing well for Katherine and her new life; in a few short weeks at college her grades were already high, she was surrounded by good friends, had achieved moderately popularity and was in regular attendance at the best parties on campus; she was having the time of her life.
With the setting of the sun came the beginning of another night; not to mention another party. Tonight would be an event to celebrate the football teams latest win; not that they needed an occasion to throw a party --no excuses were necessary. The evening had been relatively ordinary; the norm. The party was in full swing, but Katherine had experienced many great parties in her short time at the college. Tonight, she was looking for something a little different.
Slender hips swayed to the music; her graceful yet seductive movements never missing a beat. Katherine was in her element on the dance floor, fueled by alcohol and the laughter of she and her friends. Lifting yet another drink to her lips, the brunette span in a quick circle as she drained the contents of the red, plastic cup. And as she discarded the empty container on the ground below them; she and her fellow partners in crime whooped in celebration, each of them throwing their hands into the air --tossing their heads back with laughter as they danced or rather --jumped to the music.
It was as she jumped that Katherine collided with another body, the sudden bump making her uneasy on her feet for a moment. Giggling uncontrollably, [a side effect from the alcohol] the female quickly collected herself, steadying her feet before she glanced up to apologize. However, as her chestnut irises met the eyes of her victim, her words caught in her throat. The man before her was devastatingly handsome; striking features, piercing eyes, thin lips quirked upwards in a way that made her knees weak. He was dashing and yet --strangely familiar somehow. "I --I'm sorry. I've drank far too much to be jumping in a crowd of people like that --might break something--." She trailed off, blinking as she studied his face. "Do I know you from somewhere? --You look so familiar?"
