¨Respect is a complex value that requires effort and understanding. It is a word that we all should strive to understand, as Kendrick Lamar says in his album To Pimp A Butterfly; respect can be applied to people of different backgrounds, beliefs, and behaviors, even to people who have committed acts that we consider negative.
Respect is part of our communication system. We are all part of a complex system that is based on respect. Respect can be simplified to listening to each other and dialoguing between us. Some people live in the present without worrying about the consequences of their actions. These people have the right to live as they want, even if their actions are incompatible with our value system.
Both people who live in the present without worrying about the consequences of their actions and people who have strong, traumatic, and complex developments deserve to be respected.
Society is not a world of heroes and villains, but a spectrum of situations and conditions that intersect and must coincide based on respect.¨
This thought about respect came to me hours after discussing it with my girlfriend while reflecting on the chapters on imaginary adversaries, false values, and accept yourself as you are in OSHO's 'Intimacy book.
It's still a bit challenging, but I'm growing and working on making it more manageable.
